I go here at least once a month with my girlfriend to get wings and beer. We usually get great service from the staff. The place is filled with TV’s at every table, and a ton hanging every which way you look. I’m not big into TV so we just shut ours off usually. The wings and a few of the beers here are great. I go for the red rocket and my girlfriend likes the pale ale. They are served a bit too cold though. If you go around 9 or so you can skip the kiddies running around which is nice.

Remodeling has replaced most of the hard wood floor with carpeting, which warmed the ambiance - lots of wood and a view of the brewery. Doubles as a sports bar with lots of TV screens. Seven good brews plus large selection of bottled beers and a full liqour bar. Decent menu - reasonable prices and something for everyone. Great staff and excellent service- many employees have been for years. Travis, a bright, twenty-something kid with a passion for beer, works with old-timers from Canada and the mid-west to craft the brews. Fun place.

Been to this place many times. It’s located in a strip mall on Blairs Ferry Rd about 2 miles east of I380. It was recently (Feb-Mar 2007) sold by the original owner who intended to start a new place down the road. Unfortunately it sounds like those plans fell through. The new owner has decided to rename it ’Third Base Sports Bar & Brewery’. The brewer is the same and the recipes were supposedly included in the sale. Their beer is decent with 6-7ish on tap in addition to a few of your typical mass produced American light beers. Food is okay typical pub fare and improved after the sale. The beer is definitely good enough to warrant a visit.

The beer and food in this sports bar masquerading as a brewer lack a single common ingredient: inspiration. The menu is populated with standard Iowa fare and the beer is not much better. Most of the beers are served much too cold and come across as very lackluster. Still, for lack of other options in the Cedar Rapids area, I would recommend checking it out at least once.

May 2005: In a crappy little strip mall, this really wasn’t worth a visit … so-so beers. At least the staff was nice.

I had a very nice and helpful bartender here. You can either pay for samples of 4 oz. or get free 2 oz. shots. I had a few of each. Decent beer, a few had a strange sour twang that may have been from extract. If you are in Cedar Rapids, I find this to be a little more friendly and personal with better beer than Granite City.
