7 reviews for Tied House Cafe & Brewery (Mountain View)
| nickd717 (25), Palo Alto, California | | October 24, 2009 Been here quite a few times, just once since I discovered good beer though. This is a nice place, large and spacious, right next to the happening (for Mountain View that is) Castro St. area. Lots of seating and a solid crowd, and the fermenters are on display for all to see. Food is pretty good and reasonably priced.
As for the beer, well, I’d give it a solid "meh." They occasionally come out with something pretty good, and they occasionally come out with something pretty bad. Otherwise, they serve the typical uninspired range of beers. Amber ale, pale ale, IPA, hefeweizen, porter, stout, one or two lagers. Haven’t really seen anything out of the ordinary come from this place. Have had one of their bottled beers, the Menage a Singe, and it was not good.
Anyway though, it’s a place to get freshly brewed beers, and it’s got good service and a nice atmosphere. Not a bad place to satisfy the masses and to grab a burger and a couple beers, but you’re not going to find the next Westy 12 or Black Tuesday here, that’s for sure. | | mrhoppy (59), Santa Clara, California | | July 4, 2009 Decent food and beer. No extreme beers though. | | HopheadHans (13), Bay Area, California | | March 4, 2009 I live close so it is unfortunate that this place is fairly mediocre. Beers are uninspiring and always the same except one seasonal. Food is in the same vein, nothing to write home about. Atmosphere is typically Silicon valley techie hangout, nothing special. | | Taverner (77), San Ramon, California | | January 15, 2008 Food is great, brews, not so much so. Great for dining if you want a decent beer, but not spectacular. Their food, however, is pretty good, even by Mountain View standards. | | brianprentiss (29), Portland, Oregon | | July 7, 2006 You certainly appreciate the effort but their beers are just not that good. They usually have around 6 beers on tap and a seasonal. None that I have tried have been above a 2.5 rating. I love the ambiance and location and wish the beers were better. The service is good but the food is rather boring and middle of the road. | jazz88 (6), San Francisco, California does not count - explanation | | August 11, 2005 I don’t think they have brewed a new beer in the three years I have been here, or at least it doesn’t seem like it. Maybe the seasonals are always the same. The dark beers are reasonable but otherwise this place doesn’t go for anything unique or interesting. The food is okay, but there is never anything on the menu that want or will hit the spot. My food selections always seem like a compromise. | | Crit (117), New Westminster, British Columbia | | March 30, 2005 [ Updated September 18, 2008 ] Reasonable selection of beers, decent, but nothing special. Service was good, but things were slow. Food was good but limited. |
