| NachlamSie (170), Tennessee | | October 1, 2008 Okay, I drove all the way down to Athens for a concert which I discovered was canceled only when I arrived at the club at 10:45 pm. My visit at Trappeze Pub made the drive worth my while. This is beer heaven on earth. This is arguably the single best bar for beer in the south and one of the best anywhere I’ve ever been. The taps are obnoxious in their quality. Six Stone taps, a BFM tap, Allagash Curieux on tap, Storm King on cask, the list just goes on and on. The bottle selection is staggering. Menus are available with very extensive descriptions and categorizing of the beer. An excellent Scotch selection is also available. I like the idea of Scotch flights. More than 75% of the food on the menu is made with beer. I had the beer cheddar soup with sourdough and it was absolutely mouthwatering. I haven’t seen a pub with this kind of emphasis on craft beer in a long, long while. This is an absolutely mandatory stop in Athens. | | matta (81), Tampa, Florida | | July 29, 2008 Was in town for the Terrapin & Duck Rabbit beer dinner at Trappeze. Eric the owner was a super cool dude, and I’ll be damned if he hasn’t assembled on hell of a beer bar! Seriously, there was some outstanding selection, both bottle and draft some super rare and VERY reasonably priced goodies. Really is a Marvelous place… MUST Visit if in GA! | | darn1207 (15), Tallahassee, Florida | | May 25, 2008 Stopped here because of the good ratebeer reviews and glad I did. Was there on a holiday weekend in the summer - so it was probably the least crowded it gets. Thirty beers on draft and an extensive bottle list. Reasonable prices and a classy ambiance. Fantastic place. | APDAY (2), Athens, Georgia does not count | | May 18, 2008 This bar has the best selection of any bar I have I have ever been too. They have more unheard of, micro brews, and Belgian beers than I have ever seen. The female bartenders are hot and give great recommendations with great service. The male bartenders are fast and efficient, and the door guys actually remember you. Best bar in Athens hands down!!
A.D. | DazednCnfuzed (1), Lexington, Georgia does not count | | April 18, 2008 Easily one of the best pubs in the country hands down. The selection here is quite amazing...(don’t come here wanting macro domestic swill!) The food is pretty damn good as well! As others have said it does get quite busy in the evenings but the service still is very good.
This is a must stop if in the southeast US. | | BeerloverEJ21 (10), Georgia | | April 13, 2008 A not-so-typical Athens bar. As far as the beer selection, this place is pretty amazing. It’s always packed, and it can be hard to place a beer order sometimes, but the servers are pretty cool. | whowantsahero (1), does not count | | April 7, 2008 This place is my favorite spot in Athens. As good or better than the Brick Store even, in many ways. Unfortunately it is not as big as the Brick Store though, but it could always move in the future. A ton of beer, and the best thing is that the taps are constantly changing. | CatNorth (5), does not count | | March 14, 2008 Killer new spot in Athens. I stumbled upon Trappeze on my way to the Farm last time I was in Athens, and never made it to my original destination. On the night I was in town, it was packed out from when I originally walked by at 5 to late in the evening. Classy and vibey - obviously filling a void in the Athens bar scene. Reasonable prices. Well decorated with tap handles and wood. On tap selection of Belgians and microbrews blew me away. Reminiscent of the Brick Store Pub in Atlanta, and has the close-quarters camaraderie of the MapRoom in Chicago. Only complaint is that it’s so popular it’s tough to get a seat - or even standing room! | brewtopia88 (1), Watkinsville, Georgia does not count | | March 9, 2008 I’m not sure if the rater below (cecil24) actually went to the right place, but the food at Trappeze is limited right now, but includes some really tasty, imaginative dishes all made with beer - very nice. And you would have to know nothing about beer to say that Trappeze has mostly domestic beer. The beer selection is one of the best of any pub in the country. There is heavy emphasis on the best handcrafted beers from the US and Europe. No standard American lagers are offered at all - just excellent quality IPAs, Belgian-style ales, Imperial Stouts, wheat beers, oak-aged ales, German bocks and doppelbocks, and the list goes on and on. Trappeze is all about excellent beer - defintely worthy of a visit for any true beer lover. | cecil24 (8), does not count | | March 6, 2008 I did not enjoy the food and they had mostly domestic beer. | View Page : 1 2 3
