| Ughsmash (138), Waukesha, Wisconsin | | January 9, 2008 I stopped by Kahn’s while they were having a tasting, which consisted of some mighty fine stuff! They had a colossal selection of beers that I spent a good half an hour picking through.. Unfortunately I was on business without my car, so I couldn’t take much back with me. They had a lot of stuff that I’d never seen before and/or couldn’t get. The service seemed kind, but rushed, which I’m sure had to do with the tasting. Great place to stop! | | WabashMan (23), Noblesville, Indiana | | October 12, 2007 [ Updated April 20, 2008 ] A small store, with a good selection of wines and beers. A very large walk in cooler and plenty of unchilled beers, as well. And a great specialty cheese (and other foods) shop is attached. Really a great store!
EDIT: Now that it has switched from Kahn’s to Vine and Table, I’d make a few more comments. First, the staff is very helpful and enthusiastic. The only reason I don’t give them top marks for service is because, despite the enthusiasm, they aren’t as knowledgeable about beer as I’d like them to be. BUT...they’re clearly trying to gain that knowledge, and that counts for something. Their weekly beer tastings (FREE!) are a plus, as well. I do think that the selection has slipped a bit since it changed hands, though it’s hard to say since I was living out of state during most of my visits to Kahns and am in state now that it’s V&T. Of course, some things are out of their hands, such as Great Lakes no longer being distributed in the area. | | BeerVirgin72 (55), C-Bus, Ohio | | July 21, 2007 Stopped in here today before heading home to Ohio...WOW...Superstore is RIGHT. I have never seen such a clean, organized and well stocked store! LOTS OF BEER!!! Excellent selection and the shelves were BEAUTIFULLY stocked. Prices were several dollars below what we have in Ohio and I found several things we can not get here... | llafoe (2), Greenwood, Indiana does not count | | January 26, 2007 I visited their new Keystone location today... ROOMY! They probably had 20 of the Top 50 on hand. The beer was kept cold behind 21 doors and they had four rows of warm singles the entire length of the 21 doors. The owner, Jim, was VERY helpful... he took the time to search for some beers on my list in the back room. Great store... a MUST see when in Indianapolis! | | NachlamSie (170), Tennessee | | August 14, 2006 This store is moderately sized, but packed completely full with a crazy clutter of beer and wine everywhere. This kind of makes the beer hunting resemble a treasure hunt. I couldn’t discern any real organization here, but I can definitely work with that given the excellent selection. There are plenty of local/regional craft brews as well as imports. The coolers are filled with many six packs and bombers are located on several shelves in the middle of the store. I found quite a few bottles that I’ve never seen before. I had a question about a beer which had a very uninformative label. The employee couldn’t provide an answer, but I very much appreciated the fact that he admitted to simply not knowing any real information about this rare beer rather than making up something or telling me something generic like, "oh, that’s a strong beer". Anytime they could provide useful information to me, they were ready to do so. I had a great beer shopping experience here. | | atpayne (28), Zionsville, Indiana | | May 16, 2006 Excellent beer store. This location had taken a step down in the past but has reemerged as a top notch beer store. Very large selection of beer, they claim in the 700-800 bottle range, and I think they are probably right. It is definately the best selection in both volume and variety in the area. Coolers with six packs and bombers, a huge walk in cooler with beer seperated by region of the US and countries, and a massive wall of unique and often rare imports sold by the bottle. Their selection of belgian beers is quite impressive. They have limited singles available in mix-a-6 format and the thing I like the best is that you have to search hard if you are looking for BMC. The staff is helpful, but some of them are more knowledgable in wine and spirits, of which this store has a massive, and impressive selection. It is in an upperclass area of the city and obviously caters to those looking for good beer, wine, and spirits.
Their food market occupies the other side of the store and has an ecletic selection of unique food items. A large cheese selection is a nice stop to pair with a beer, sushi, a deli, and some great pre-made items to go.
Overall it is a must visit for those who have finer tastes and are in the city. | | bu11zeye (112), Frisco, Texas | | April 10, 2006 The best selection I have come across in the Indianapolis area. Nice selection of Belgians and local brews. | | igneous1 (26), Davenport, Iowa | | June 28, 2005 personally i did not have discussions with anyone, but the staff were friendly. selection seemed to be bigger at this store as did the overall quarters. good selection of singles and some Indiana beers. i enjoyed my visit. there is an attached gourmet grocery with cheeses and such...cool place to go if you’re stopping at Kahn’s. definitely recommended. oh yeah, the wine selection is really great here too. | | heemer77 (134), Savannah, Missouri | | August 23, 2004 I was most impressed by the staff. They are very knowledgeable and willing to discuss beers with you. Nice selection of Belgians and a decent selection of micros. The beer guy at this store told me that he has more vintage stuff at the Indianapolis location. However, this is a much newer and nicer store. It is also an upscale neighborhood in suburban Indianapolis. If you are on the north side of Indy, it is worth a visit. |
