It’s a hike, but it’s one of the two best package stores I’ve found in the area (and much better than the other Whole Foods I’ve been to in the area). Has Westy 12, many Cantillons, the three Aecht Schlenkerla rauchbiers, and tons of other stuff rare and more common. N.B. Jim Dorsch the beer guy is no longer at this store he has moved to the Annandale store and will be moving to the new Old Town Alexandria store when it opens.

| wnp22 (21), Toronto (Roncesvalles Village), Ontario | | June 24, 2008 Went there on a visit to Vienna (Tysons corner) for business. Overall, the selection was good, picked up some new finds plus some old favorites. Made the monotony of the trip bearable. Picked up about 8 good 750ml’s along with a Unibroue I was looking for for a while. The store clerk was very helpful, although he didn’t know much about wine. (I lived in No Cal for a few years so my Napa/Sonoma knowledge is not too shabby). Overall though, made me happy...enough. | cruzin023 (1), Virginia does not count | | May 30, 2008 I went to look for beers here yesterday and I was somewhat disappointed with their selection. They had Troegs, but none of those bombers and I didn’t see any rare breweries such as Russian River (which has been reported to be in stock there in the past) | buckygoldstein (6), Grimstad, Norway does not count | | February 29, 2008 Another douche bag central on Saturdays. Have fun trying to dodge all the douches on 123 trying to get to the driveway. Beer selection is good. I used to get 12oz Rogue IMP Stout bottles aged 2 years until they ran out. Good selection of bombers but lately they have not been keeping up with what Jim D started.
Recommend getting there before 11am on Saturday to get away from the traffic surrounding it. | | Cobra (23), In the snake pit, Maryland | | December 19, 2007 Used to be the bomb when Jim worked there. But, the selection has gone downhill severely since he left. Norms now has the better selection, if you want to drive out there, that is. | | WeeHeavySD (47), San Diego (Hillcrest), California | | November 26, 2007 Living on the Westcoast I see Beer at Whole Foods all the time. The Whole Foods in San Diego have decent selections but this one takes the cake. A whole half row in the market, half shelves half refrigerated. This selection was really pretty astounding. Lots of great things similar to Norm’s down the road, but also all 3 high end 12ozers from DFH Extra, WWS and 120. Also a pretty nice selection from around the country and the globe, not to mention some glassware and collectors boxes. My dad was also pretty impressed with their wine selection. | quidire (5), Silver Spring, Maryland does not count | | November 8, 2007 Staff seemed resentful of the customers, selection had obvious gaps...
I prefer the whole foods in glover park, even if it has a comparatively constricted selection, at least the staff seem happy to be there. | dsm (4), Baltimore, Maryland does not count | | November 4, 2007 Great selection. I stopped in for Bell’s because you can’t yet get it in Baltimore. There were about 8 different Bell’s brews sold in 6 packs. I was more than satisfied with the available beers. Don’t count on getting singles. | | Enniskillen (57), Port Angeles, Washington | | October 31, 2007 Top notch selection for a Whole Foods. Good local selection, had Kasteel Rouge, and a decent Belgian selection. Good enough to plan a stop there for sure. | | radagast83 (31), Springfield, Virginia | | October 18, 2007 I’ve seen larger selections, but this place had some (of what I’d call) rare beers! Pretty great prices. I prefer Norm’s just down the street but I was happy to see beers and vintages I haven’t seen elsewhere, ever in this area. Dropped a huge amount of money immediately and will be back again. | | acrdz (538), Boulder, Colorado | | April 16, 2007 [ Updated February 5, 2008 ] Great selection on a small aisle, and great prices as well, cheaper than Chevy Chase. Green Flash, Southampton, some high grav beer from Left Hand like Smoke Jumper, Legend Barley Wine, Firestone Walker, Bells, Avery, De Dolle, Cantillon etc. The new beer guy Jordan knows his stuff. It’s a bit of a drive for me but I’ll be back. | View Page : 1 2 3 4
