8 reviews for Woodman’s Food Market (Rockford)
JJClark (9), Roscoe, Illinois does not count - explanation | | June 17, 2009 Not a bad place for some import brews and a few micros as well. Prices are better here than most places. Bells, Tyranena, a few 3F. Logli’s on State Street has a better selection. | | GranvilleTim (14), Granville, Illinois | | February 17, 2009 Went there to get Bell’s Hopslam since they don’t have it in the LaSalle-Peru area yet. Decent selection of Wisconsin beers but no New Glarus. The manager is a good guy and informative of what’s available in the area. | | guyinchicago (22), marengo, Illinois | | February 16, 2008 im know the selection of brews is better at the algonquin store was up in rockford today and was very disappointed with their selection of beer and they didn,t have a mix and match section boooooo | | Cornfield (141), Oak Forest, Illinois | | December 16, 2006 I think the selection’s better at the Kenosha, WI, store that I’ve been at. Nothing to buy today. Still, they’ve got lots of good brews and it’s handy knowing about the place should I be in the area and want some decent bottles. | | jpm30 (57), East Central, Georgia | | June 1, 2006 [ Updated June 4, 2006 ] A big warehouse grocery/liquor store with good prices. I have to agree, this store’s beer selection is not as good as many Woodman’s in Wisconsin. An o.k. import section with about 10 Belgians, a decent micro section, as big as you’re going to find in Rockford with some seasonals and one-off’s, a disappointing singles/mix-a-six section. They do offer discounts on large purchases. Check the best before/freshness dates on anything you wanting to purchase here, I found several old bottles. If you need help, look for one of the vendors checking or stocking the shelves, they know what’s new and fresh better than the store employees. Good all in one place for the traveler, snack, lunch/dinner and beer. | | muzzlehatch (255), Burlington, Vermont | | October 20, 2005 The Woodmans in Rockford is weaker than most of the WI branches of the chain...but that may be mostly because the Illinois brewing scene just hasn’t caught up to its sister to the north. Two Brothers and Three Floyds commoner beers are here at the lowest prices you’ll see, same with K-Zoo/Bells...a great store to be sure but merely a shadow of Madison/Gammon Road. | | SubstanceT (114), Saint Louis, Missouri | | September 14, 2005 [ Updated October 13, 2005 ] Okay, this is the place in rockford. THey have some pretty good stuff. Lots of wisconsin stuff, lots of regular stuff. This is the only woodmans that I have seen that includes a mixer place. BTW the selection here is probably better than the Janesville or Algonquin store but in WI they have New Glarus so check that out. | | Terminus (145), Las Cruces, New Mexico | | August 12, 2005 well well, somebody finally entered the best beer store from my home town. before new glarus cut their distribution to IL, i USED to buy New Glarus here, but now its gone...."Sniff". They do have bells and many other WI beers. by far the best place in town. check it out! THe mix a 6 pk section is small, but has a good variety. |
