nqualls (6), Tennessee does not count - explanation | | September 14, 2008 Third or fourth trip here. Not sure why I hadn’t rated it before now. Six beers on tap. Dos Perros, Hefeweizen, Pale Ale, Onward Stout, Sly Rye Porter and a Belgian beer. Service was great. On the weekend its kind of hard to get a seat in the place. Not a big place. Very pleased with the beer. I just wish it was open more than 3 nights per week. | | allfreej (45), Louisville, Kentucky | | May 3, 2008 Stopped in on a Thursday afternoon to try their Hop Project #6. What a great place! The staff and other customers were very friendly, the taproom is a great place to have a couple, and it’s smoke-free, unlike Nashville’s other beer-drinking venues. | mannondale (1), does not count - explanation | | April 5, 2008 If I leave the house to have a beer or three you can bet I will be headed for the tap room when it’s open. You can’t miss with any of their beers and the people are great. | rsteagall (9), does not count - explanation | | July 16, 2007 First off, I’m only a patron of Yazoo Brewing Company. I can’t picture a better place to start a brewing company. It has the functionality and space you need to get the job done. The qualities of an old building its in can’t be found any where else. It definitely has history and character 360 degrees around you. There is never a problem with service. Everyone is friendly and pleased to serve. Their workers attitudes definitely show they are proud to be working there and happy to be part of this young company. The selection is perfect. First off, they are their own brewing company and have no reason to represent any one else. They usually have 6-7 beers on tap that cover the wide range from stout to pale ale with everything in between. So, the selection is perfect with a wide veriety of types of beers... just not brands of beer. Personally my favorites are the hefe, stout, porter, and IPA. The hefe rocks! I usually drink 2+ gallons of this per week plus others. I do definitely suggest the sampler, as it goes toward the price of a new growler! As far as food goes, they have a perfect selection of cheese platters. Some include fruit, nuts (spiced pecans), and bread. After all this place is a brewing company and not a restraint. Overall, for what they are trying to accomplish, it is top notch full of memories and flavor. Good job Yazoo! | Beersnob77 (6), Mount Juliet , Tennessee does not count - explanation | | June 10, 2006 The three best reasons to go here are the beer, the knowledgeable staff (including the brewer at times) and the clean, airy NON SMOKING taproom. The taproom is located at the end of an old manufacturing buillding that is essentially a ruin but the facility itself is quite attractrive. The limited selection of appetizers complement the beer well. | Likeburning (9), Franklin, Tennessee does not count - explanation | | April 2, 2006 The atmosphere is unmatched if you’re into this kind of place. It’s in the old Marathon Motors factory near downtown. The selection is ok, but kind of limited because they only sell their own beer. I’m not complaining though, because I love their beer, that and I can get my growler filled for 5 bucks. Quick and knowledgeable service, and a good time had by all. | | illinismitty (200), Nashville, Tennessee | | December 10, 2005 [ Updated March 19, 2007 ] This the tap room of the brewery, that has limited hours. The actual brewmaster is the host and very cordial. 6 beers on tap. Food is only hors de ouvre type stuff, like cheese and fruit plates. Worth a visit because you get fresh beer and get to meet and converse with the brewer, who very enthusiastic about his work. Most of patrons are beer enthusiasts and homebrewers. You do not get that experience at many brewpubs, unless you take a tour. It is nice to be in company of people who know beer. Worth a visit. Early on, I unfairly criticized the beers (sorry Linus). Linus put everything on the line to start Yazoo. Now they are growing to the point that you are seeing their beers in bars and restaurants as an alternative to Macro swill. Do they brew HUGE beers? No. But they are well crafted session beers with some interesting twists. Considering the ABV laws in TN, and the mild palate of tennesee beer drinkers, Linus was wise to brew more approachable beers. I have matured to appreciate the beers and the business model. If you appreciate a well crafted session beer, stop in. | | SpringsLicker (82), Tennessee | | October 24, 2005 This place is in an old industrial park type setting near the projects and the old brick buildings reminded some of a concentration camp. Worth seeking out in any case.
I attended a tasting hosted by Linus Hall the brewer/owner. The owner is a former homebrewer from Nashville who went commercial with the opening of Yazoo.
The tasting room was not very large but there was a good crowd there. I sampled out in the brewery itself and was treated to a tour and samples. The line up is rather small, but solid and Linus was a very helpful and gracious host. Expect cautious growth for a while from Yazoo that will only lead to more an better selections. | graininfuser (1), does not count - explanation | | September 15, 2005 Great place! Good to great beer brewed right there! Food is just snack foods, breads, cheeses, fruit. | | redlight (45), Winter Park, Florida | | July 10, 2005 The building is great. It was very busy while i was there. All the locals just bring in their growlers and get it refilled for a small fee. Sampler did not include all their beers that was a bit disappointing for someone who had never tried their beers. The beers i had were good. I walked out with 2 growlers myself. | View Page : 1 2
