| topherh (13), Kearney, Missouri | | May 21, 2009 Visited this establishment twice on our trip to the Smokies. Visited with two young children 4 and 2. Had a good kids menu. Both of my meals were very good. Their mac and cheese side was excellent. Our waiters both nights were great. All of the beers I had here were solid. My favorite was the Appalachian Pale. | houser1978 (2), Delaware, Ohio does not count - explanation | | May 6, 2009 The best fire baked pizza I ever had. Great beer as well. | goosu (1), cincinnati, Ohio does not count - explanation | | February 3, 2009 We go to this sport/entainment place everytime we go to Gatlinburg. The sampler was great I liked the black bear beer. The Beer cheese was so good. A great easy place to get to hope you stop by you wont be dissapointed. | | nqualls (35), Nashville, Tennessee | | November 29, 2008 Right off of the main road through town. Got a sampler of all of their beers (9 samplers at 5oz each). The ribs and pizza are great. The beer was very good. 7.50 for the sampler. A must try for beer lovers in the area. The porter and pumpkin beer were top notch. They have a light beer for the less risky. A good mix of lagers and ales. What’s not to like? | | antzman (13), Clarksville, Indiana | | October 18, 2008 Right off the main drag in Gatlinburg, towards the entrance to the Smokey Mountain National Park. It is in a little shopping area for Calhoun’s with its own parking, which is a plus in this part of Gatlingburg. The building has ski-lodge look and feel to it. Big A-Frame with plenty of wood trim. Upon entering the front doors, you immediately see a decent sized brewing operation behind glass. We were seated upstairs quickly. Again, the lodge feel is still there. Plenty of televisions wherever the eyes wander. We were given our menues and when I asked the server about the beers, he started pointing at each one and compared it to macros, like their amber is like Killians, the light lager is like Bud Light, etc. Not the best way to get my attention, but we are in tourist hell, so it makes sense. I ordered their Harvest Ale, which is a light bodied German-style Marzen. Very light actually. I then tried the Black Bear Brown Ale, which was a huge improvement. The food we ordered was very good, with huge portions. The pretzels and beer cheese were a great appetizer. We paid almost $6 a pint for the beers, which was a bit much for what we got. Not a bad place overall, but a decent place if you are in Gatlinburg
| | BeerHawk (39), Huntsville, Alabama | | August 26, 2008 Visited on a Friday night. Not overly crowded but a decent crowd. Live band. Lots of TV’s with various sports showing. The waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable of their selections. Their beer are all average but a good selection. Very cool rustic type building to give you that mountain feeling. | beezz86 (4), Jasper, Indiana does not count - explanation | | May 31, 2008 I enjoyed my visit to Smoky Mountain Brewery. It was nice and roomy with a lot of televisions around. The service was very good. 9 beers were available during my visit. I tried them all in a sampler tray and was impressed with some while not impressed with others. The wheat, pale ale, and porter were my favorites. I was disappointed with the red ale and the black bear ale. Overall I would recommend visiting the brewery and trying it out for yourself. | | Hudspart (21), Hudsonville, Michigan | | April 28, 2008 Beer is average at best. Like fluffy said, this is pretty much like a sports bar. However, if you make your own beer, no matter how bad, you get at least an 11. Food was a little below average. Waitstaff was very friendly. | | arventresca (24), Greenville, North Carolina | | April 23, 2008 They have about 7 or 8 brews on tap at a time. I thought the food was excellent. Eatin there twice and both times got a pizza with roasted garlic tomatos with Texas toast and a side salad with Kung Pao. | | fluffy (19), Florida | | April 6, 2008 decor was typical sports bar. huge and cavernous with blaring TVs. house brews were typical, about 8 or so. here is where things take a turn. when i asked the waitress what she would recommend, her explanation was, well if you like Bud, try___. if you like Bud Light, try ____. if you like Guinness-if youve ever had that before-, try___. etc. seriously, this is how you recommend a beer? comparing it to the mass produced swill? sad. i tried their red, which was pretty much sour and flavorless. their stout was better, but after the bitterness and mild chocolate overtones, it was gone. food was typical sports bar fare, meaning not very good or interesting. it was also overpriced. all in all, i wont be back. i can get bad food, blah beer and crappy prices at tons of other sports bars, thanks anyway. |
