RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
I’ve added Magic Hat because they have a great tour (by all accounts -- I’ve not taken it), and because their store sometimes carries beers unavailable elsewhere. Winter specialty Feast of Fools, one of their better offerings, is only sold on site to my knowledge, and they occasionally serve one-offs from the taps that don’t appear bottled, sometimes not even on tap anywhere else. A little over 3 miles/5 kilometers south of downtown Burlington.

| Hopdup | Went there a few year back an a whim since we were in Burlington. We missed the tour so they let us tour by oursevlves. When we finished our tour we sampled and re-sampled for about an hour . We finished off with buying a few half gallon growlers. We had a great time and drank alot of good beer. The only down side is I had to go to be early that night .

eaglefan538 | Enjoyed a walk through of their collector’s shop, which had magic hat everything in it. We didn’t have time for the tour, but others said it was good, and we enjoyed a browse through the bottling area. They offer tastings in the shop (full bar in the back) and only limit the samples based on VT law, which was 4 at the time. Of course, you can buy many of their speciality brews right there on the spot. Definitely a hippie environment and somewhat dark inside, but I’m fine with that (nothing you wouldn’t expect after visiting their website).

Vac | This was a fun brewery to visit. They definitely play to the Hippy crowd as is evident with there beer names. The tour was fun and informative. The tasting room was one of the best I’ve been in as for as making sure you have a good time while your there.

Sammy | Great self-tour, it’s always Haloween. Sasmple to your heart’s content. Good cheap beer products like beer soap. Lots of fun and worth stopping in the area. Always something unusual on tap.

hophead75 | Stopped here 10.08.07- decor/atmosphere is like a psychedelic haunted house which I liked in a weird way. Had some stuff on tap you can’t buy outside the brewery- thumbsucker. Staff was friendly and knowledgable. Overall, I am not a huge fan of Magic Hat beer but they do have alot of cool glassware and merchandise. Worth the stop for the rare beers.

dkachur | Very dark and cool (not in the temperature sense) inside. Large selection of merchandise and large selection of beers available for sample. Brewery tour is rich on info about the company’s history, but poor on the process (but, you get that almost everywhere else, so it’s not a huge loss).

notalush | Large, campy warehouse store and tap room up front, that looks like it was designed by Tim Burton - lots of merchandise for sale - a fairly large selection of beer, with quite a few brews that are only available there (the Kerouac and Thumbsucker were on when I was there, as well as a belgian dubbel that is supposedly going to be the mystery beer in the fall 12 packs) - the girl working the taps was friendly and helpful - we viewed the brewery, but didn’t take the tour - they have the largest operation I’ve seen for a microbrewery - large automated bottling line, giant fermenters, etc. - it’s kind of cheesy inside, but it’s worth a stop for the rare brews (which you can sample for free).

Nate | Definitely a neat little tour, if you get the chance. I was there on a Friday at 4pm, so a lot of people coming in to fill growlers, so the tasting area was a little crowded. Still got to try several new things (for me) that aren’t likely to get to western PA anytime soon, such as the Braggot. Nice assortment of schwag and clothing, though a tad overpriced. Not much beer for sale on premises, but most of the local retailers have what is available at the time.

Boliv | I must say, I love this brewery. Very friendly staff, always willing to give you an extra sample of beer (or 3, 4, 5...). A great visit, fun to stock up on growlers while there.

swoopjones | Stopped by for tour set up through my reps. Very eccentric place. Received a great tour from the head brewer. They went all out for us. Recieved a nice limited bottle of Chaotic chemistry. Great place with decent beer.
