wlminter (2), Virginia does not count - explanation | | November 14, 2009 I love this place. Great selection of beers, all available as a single bottle, so you don’t have to make the commitment of a six-pack. Good, knowledgeable staff, including one guy who likes death metal! The only problem with this place is that they have too much wine. | | Elwood (34), Leesburg, Virginia | | October 31, 2009 Just had a chance to revisit this old haunt yesterday. My how things have changed in a decade. Apparently things have vastly improved since they moved across the street. They have a great selection of both domestics and imports, mainly focusing on the domestic side. As others have stated, the best part is you can take home anything as a single. The staff were very friendly and very knowledgeable. Blacksburg certainly isn’t a beer destination, but if you find yourself there (say for a Thursday night Hokies game!), it is definitely worth stopping by. | | Zeswaft (102), Seattle, Washington | | May 20, 2009 A pretty awesome selection, especially for a bumblefu*& town, though nothing that was really rare. A imports were pretty lacking but domestics were astounding. It seemed to me like most of the beers were NE coast or West coast. Wasn’t impressed with the service. I asked some kid for Va recommendations for hoppy beers and he gave one beer that is totally passed it’s prime. Then when i asked him, "are there any good beer bars in town?" he said "what do you mean?" What do you mean what do I mean? Anyways, major points on everything beeing available in singles. | | NachlamSie (212), Tennessee | | March 16, 2009 Wow, Vintage Cellar has a crap ton of beer. The import section is not overly intense, but there is a very large amount of American microbrew and most everything is available in singles. I didn’t come across anything mind-blowing, but the selection is certainly staggering and I saw quite a few things I have never seen elsewhere. The staff is helpful and well informed. It is a mandatory stop if in the area. | | dkachur (114), Charlottesville, Virginia | | March 3, 2009 What a great beer store. Located in a strip mall with ample parking. Employees are all very friendly and helpful. Huge selections of bottles, and everything is available in singles. Cases of mixed singles are 10% off (as well as anything above a case, not just full cases, which is very nice). The US, Germany, Belgium, England are all well represented, as well as a ton of other oddball countries. Wine, cider and sake as well. A very small selection of glassware. Some cheese, soda and oddly, a whole rack of hot sauces. Very cool place and definitely highly recommended. The only knock against them is their website is not up to date. | jmcinerny (2), Maryland does not count - explanation | | January 24, 2009 Great place in a great college town. Definitely jump off 81 if you are passing through. Incredibly helpful and knowlegable owners and staff. Very strong on bombers and singles from all over the US. Great Belgian selection. They probably consider themselves more of a wine store (hence the name) but they clearly love beer and wine. I would guess that the floor space is 65% wine and 35% beer. Beer and wine tastings every weekend. | | nearbeer (100), Knoxville, Tennessee | | July 17, 2008 [ Updated September 28, 2008 ] Great beer store in a suburban strip center with a Krogers as the anchor. Everything in singles. Nice staff that helps if you want, or leaves you alone to lust after the beer if you prefer (as I do). Definitely worth the 10 minute sidetrack off of I-81. | | changeup45 (46), Orlando, Florida | | June 25, 2008 [ Updated February 11, 2009 ] Visited 6/19/08. A little hard to find and didn’t look like much from the outside with all sorts of construction going on but this place is excellent. The store itself is large compared to others I have been to with a great selection of beer and wine. The west coast is well represented here which was nice to see. Big bonus is pretty much everything is available as a single, whether it be a bomber, 12 ounce or whatever. I bought lots and could have easily bought lots more. They also sell online with a complete list of what they have. Overall one of the best beer stores I have been to! | | mar (36), Dallas, Texas | | June 8, 2008 Mail order: Awesome place for my first mail order ever. Great selection and they were very prompt about getting my box to me safe and sound. | | Walt (185), Chicago, Illinois | | June 6, 2008 Mail order: Terrific selection and wonderful service! I have ordered dozens of times from them ! Recommnded! |
