| gsmitty80 (40), Washington DC | | August 20, 2009 Went down to this bar the other night for drinks. Was pretty drunk and dropped a bottle of beer on the ground causing a mess. It was cleaned up quickly and I was not booted out of the bar which is a bonus. Would like to try the food because the atmosphere was nice. Would go back again. | | Travlr (43), Washington, Washington DC | | July 25, 2009 Nice comfortable place, Cuba/Hemingway theme. Handful of well chosen beers, including one from Iceland. Taps and bottles. Good food, tapas and full meals. Very friendly. Better than Saint-Ex, its yuppy neighbor. | | ¾ (599), Colorado | | January 13, 2008 A sister bar to Cafe St Ex, it’s only a few doors down, and I think the crowd and feel of this place is a little more comfortable for the professional drinker. Low light, a lot of mohogany wood paneling, and a nice, classic style bar. Beer selection included a Magic Hat, an Allagash, Raven Lager, a Clipper City and a couple of other more common micros, along with a short bottle list with things such as Lindemans Kriek and Chimay. Not a destination for the beer traveler, but a decent place to drink around U Street if you’re around. | | jde123 (58), Washington, Washington DC | | January 13, 2006 Overall, I really liked this place. There was no music to speak of, allowing my party of four to speak to each other and HEAR each other, which is probably most important. Had a lot of decent beer on tap, most notably some local beer (Clipper City Heavy Seas line). Very decent stuff in bottles as well, a lot of Brooklyn Ales, and more Clipper City, and a few things I have never heard of. I like this place, and will most likely visit it more often now. |
