| Brewman63 (25), , | | November 21, 2009 Stopped in on our way walking back to our hotel from the ChopHouse Brewery. had I known we were stopping here I would have left room for the garlic fries - an absolute must for any first-time GB patron. I was a little disappointed in their beer selection. They only had a golden, hefeweizen, Marzen and a seasonal (which escapes me right now) on tap. The hefeweizen was good but not great. The restaurant looks interesting - set in an old bank building. Stop in if you’re in the neighborhood. | Fulmonte21 (3), , does not count - explanation | | September 11, 2009 The beer was good but not memorable. There wasn’t a stout or anything darker than a seasonal red beer that they had. This was very convenient, right across the street from the Spy Museum and not far from down town. We sat at the bar and it wasn’t very busy for a Saturday night. The bartenders were very nice and we had a great time. TRY THE GARLIC FRIES!!! | | Bonster (27), Jersey Shore, New Jersey | | August 9, 2009 Not bad for a chain...went here after going to the spy museum. The inside is kind of business-like. The food was a little pricey but the beer was good, however, not overly memorable. | | SamGamgee (86), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California | | April 27, 2009 Located in an old bank next to the Portrait Gallery, Gordon Biersch has a lot of cool marble columns, but suffers from a cold, business feel. The beer is solid, but pretty limited and honestly nothing that I cared for very much. They only had one seasonal plus the normal nation-wide lagers and hefeweizen. The food is typical and mediocre while being on the pricey side. I’ve had many of their garlic fries back in the bay area, and the one’s here just sucked. If you are in the city, you are much better off hitting one of the other brewpubs like DC chophouse or Capitol City. | | KnN (21), Greenbelt, Maryland | | December 9, 2008 [ Updated March 12, 2009 ] I’ve eaten at here a few times and always had a nice meal. Food is kind of high end pub fare, but the wedge salads are really good, and the garlic fries are very tasty although you’ll have dragon breath for a few hours afterward. Beer isn’t the garden variety brewpub fare, but it’s not excellent either. Their seasonals are usually the best bet for something interesting. Not a bad place. Depending on if there’s an event at the Verizon center it can either be just busy or it can be insane. | | Bierkrug (85), Idar-Oberstein (temp in DC), Germany | | September 14, 2008 Typical large chain American Brewpub. However that being said the beers were not the typical American ice cream parlor flavored stuff, which was normally found at these types of places. Food was good by pricey. Not a bad place overall. | | Derek881 (25), Frederick, Maryland | | July 27, 2008 I stopped into this brewpub after an Orioles game for a beer and a meal. It was a nice, semi-casual restaurant, but I did not feel too out-of-place in my baseball attire. The service was friendly, but a little bit slow, adequate overall. The food selection was about average, and there were a decent, not exceptional, number of beers to choose from including a couple seasonals. The food was pretty good we all had pizzas and finished them. Prices were reasonable, especially for downtown DC, and overall it was a positive, but not too memorable, experience. | | puzzl (70), New York, New York | | July 1, 2008 Food was surprisingly decent, but the beer was unsurprisingly crap. Good for a few ticks, thats about all. | | Sammy (273), Toronto, Ontario | | June 27, 2008 An ex-bank with nice ceilings and pillars, maybe physically the nicest of this chain I have seen. Decent though not adventerous beer.Last day for Jason the brewer who is Charlottseville bound to do his own thing. The shwartzbier was the clear winner, the pilsner and kolsch OK. Very decent service and pleasant environment for a city because of tourism. More adventerous beer in other places, client directed. | | JoeMcPhee (262), Jackson Heights, New York | | June 14, 2008 Typical Biersch place... bright and airy. I quite like the bar area at this one. Had a very tasty burger along with some nice garlic-laced fries. The bartender and the patrons were all very friendly. The beers are pretty solid actually... especially given the heat outside. Can’t complain. |
