A bizarre dark dusty old safari decor in a hole in the wall location. Was there for their Beerilicious sausage and cheese pairing party as a part of DC Beer Week. I’m not sure I would have ever gone in if not for the even. The people there seem to know their beer, and have a great respect for the American Craft Beer movement.

I really enjoyed my visit. I arrived at 5:00 on a weekday, so I didn’t really get a sense of it being crowded as some other raters have noted. Its proximity to the Metro is a huge plus. Dave the bartender was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I thought the selection was just right--not too mnuch to plow through, heavily weighted towards American craft beer, and eclectic. I will definitely return.

The Big Hunt is a rarity - a big, often crowded party bar that also happens to have some great, mostly American beers on tap. Ambiance is big, dark party joint, but wander around a bit and you will find a few smaller, quieter rooms where you can hang out, have a conversation, and enjoy a beer without drunk dancers flailing into you.

Ive been here a few times and like their selection of about 20 beers on tap. Dark and ’big’ one can get drunk and lost and have a good time. They have the new buck hunter game and a good jukebox. Check it out.

This is primarily a meat market for twentysomethings. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Basically it’s a big and popular dive that can work just as well for a post-work happy hour as a final stop on a night out. But it can get far too crowded for my taste, at which point you’ve got to jostle at the bar. Bar food is decent. Beer list is well above-average but falls short of being geek-worthy.

Went here for the 2nd or 3rd time last night. Its a big meeting place bar for one of my best friend’s high school friends so I end up going with them a lot around the holiday. I was happy to see a variety of nice taps. Bell’s Two hearted on draft in DC is nice to see not to mention a number of other decent brews. Bar tenders are attentive, can get very very very crowded and hard to move inside, but it shouldn’t alter the quality of the beer which is pretty nice.

Tap list isn’t too bad, lot’s of decent choices from the region, and few beers brewed specially for the bar as well. I enjoyed my time at this establishment. From the door, the place looks very small, very dark, and very smoky. It is, however, two and a half flights, the ground floor bar is the largest and most crowded, the second floor consists of a smaller bar (both with many regional and seasonal beers on tap) and a pool table, also gets crowded, and half a flight up is a deck that is open year round with large tables and open skies. Service is decent.
