| Nena (13), West Seattle, Washington | | November 19, 2009 This place is close enough to my work that I can fill a growler and get it in my car in less than 10 minutes. Looks like nothing on the outside, but the inside has a nice ambiance and a good crowd of people. It might be the luck of when I’ve gone, but it’s often crowded enough that seating is hard to find, but that hasn’t caused me much grief. Haven’t had any problems with the staff, though I haven’t spent long enough in the place to really get a feel for the service. Since it’s close to my work and not close to my home and people I drink with, I’ve only stopped in briefly to fill a growler or to have one glass. There’s no food served, but they don’t mind you bringing food or getting delivery, which is most commonly from the nearby Flying Saucer Pizza. | | theisti (114), Leawood, Kansas | | September 21, 2009 Hit Black Raven up with bvc and kp on Thursday, Sept 10. Located in a very non-descript business park, I was quite surprised to see a) how nice it was inside and b) how crowded it was. The place was absolutely jammed, and the only table we could grab was in the actual production brewery, which was pretty cool. One of the brewers chatted with us while he was working, and eventually gave us an impromptu tour of the place. The bar staff was totally slammed, but still very friendly and helpful. In addition to the house brews, they had a couple of guest taps, which was nice. Overall, good crowd, good beer, friendly staff. | | fakepurseninja (50), Washington | | July 16, 2009 Very swanky taphouse. Beautiful layout and design; more akin to a boutique winery aura than most craft breweries. Small lineup of available brews - but I imagine it is growing with time and the guest taps help round out the menu. Friendly staff. A little out-of-the way from the main drags of Redmond but worth the time if one’s in the area. | | bitbucket (56), Kirkland, Washington | | June 3, 2009 Black Raven just opened, so they’re still working out some of the kinks. There isn’t any food, but you can order from nearby Flying Saucer Pizza. This probably isn’t the place to go for ambiance unless you’re into industrial park chic, but Beaux (the head brewer) is going out of his way to assemble a stable of beers to draw you in, and they have several guest taps. |
