May 18, 2009 Not a beer bar. At all. You’re lucky to find a couple of halfway interesting beers on draft here. You’re a block one way from Elysian Fields, and a block another way from The Collins Pub. This place doesn’t even apply to beer geeks. That said, it’s a kick-ass bar that’s been promoting the hell out of Seattle sports teams since there were Seattle sports teams. My numbers would be 30-35 points higher if this were ratebars.com. They have tons of Leroy Nieman original paintings on the walls, they have tons of decades-old marble and hardwood all over the place, they have about eleventy frillion different whiskies and whiskys, and the food is rock-solid. It’s loud, a little overpriced, and, on game days, overrun with fans. But if you’re in the south end of downtown during a gap in the sports schedule and want to grab a french dip with a decent beer and maybe a little nip after, this is almost certainly the place for you. |
