| berkshirejohn (79), Bracknell, England | | December 5, 2008 A beautiful Art Deco exterior and a hideous Art Deco interior, decorated to hide most of the architectural features, and with a terrible zebra skin effect all over the bar. Apart from that its a typical JDW with a reasonable and cheap range of beers, and the usual JDW clientele. Worth a look on the way to the Wellington, but dont stop for long. | | Fin (97), Merton, England | | December 10, 2007 Very close to New Street Station and an easy pub to locate also but a stones throw from The Wellington. Pretty decent for a JDW’s, good prices as you nwould expect and also decent range of beers on my visit with particular emphasis on Salopian and Beowulf beers. Both of the beers that I had were in good nick. | | DJMonarch (83), Northwich, England | | January 25, 2006 Easy to reach being only a short walk from New Street station and conveniently located just a few doors down from the excellent Wellington.
Choice wasn’t the best when I visited but as usual was reasonably priced being a Wetherspoons pub. | | haddonsman (56), Derby, England | | May 10, 2005 Popped in as my wife uses a wheelchair and it’s easy to get a wheelchair into the place. Two guest beers, both in good nick, busy on a Sunday afternoon but not hideous, it’s a bit of a shed so rather noisy, service polite and fairly swift, cheap for a city centre pub but better ale and atmosphere up the road at the Welly. | | DanielBrown (73), Birmingham (via Leicester), England | | July 26, 2004 [ Updated September 29, 2004 ] UK drinkers will know all about Wetherspoons’ pubs - they are what they are: cheap, busy, with some real ales and good value food. The Briar Rose is OK, and is one of the better bets in the centre of Brum. Usually about 2 guest ales + a couple of ’Sorry not availables’. Usual standards too and some bottled lager options. Cheap and consequently very busy - you may wait a while to get served. A nice Art Deco look to this one.
