76 Sorry to see this is gone now. We used to stop in here back in 07-08 When Kara was going to WVU and had apartment just on other side of the gas station from this place. Nice looking place. Good house beers! |
8 I was in Morgantown on the 19th of September, 2009 and this placed was out of business. Talked to a local that said it closed about six months ago. Very disappointing. Rating above is entered only because I could not add comments without assigning numbers. Should be all zeros |
64 (Visited 01/2008): WVBC is located on University Ave not too far from campus. They have a private lot behind the building that is kind of harrowing depending on the weather and how busy they are due to how little room there is to maneuver.
The interior is pretty open and there is restaurant seating in the front. In the rear there is a bar with brewing equipment viewable behind glass. There was a string band playing in the front on the evening I visited.
The current beer list is on a chalkboard and there were 4 available on my visit. According to the bartender they usually have closer to 6 with a seasonal or two. The beers run from Wheat to Stout and all are average to above average. There is a sampler available and the bar offers $1.50 10oz drafts on certain nights.
Service here is good, the bartender was very attentive and was apologetic that they did not have more beers available for their sampler.
Food at WVBC is good pub grub. My burger was very tasty.
Overall this is a nice little brewpub in Morgantown. While the beers aren’t world class it’s still a worthwhile stop.

58 A very friendly place, not far off the route going to Pittsburgh, and 3.5 hours from Baltimore. Sizeable with rooms with their own taps, I finally find the active room where the people and the beer are. More people came up to me to talk without the fake smiles and inhibitions than several bars in the big city. Very decent beers, pleasant, clean and relaxing in this total college area. |
62 Stopped in here for a growler right around lunch time. Significant college presence, a little unorganized, looked like they were recovering from a party or something the previous day. Service, though, was friendly, the bartender fairly knowledgeable. I didn’t have any food, so I cannot comment on it. |
80 Now this is a brewpub to visit. It’s big inside so it never really get’s crowded. I stopped in during the WVU game so there was some shouting but the bartender kept things under control, no swearing. And I can see why, this is a place that the family can attend while the ratebeerian rates the beers, pretty cool. They had a decent selection of 6 different beers that ranged from golden ale to imperial stout. Not a bunch but certainly covered the spectrum. Beer is good for West Virgina, way above average. $5 for 6-5 oz tastes and that includes a free mug of your favorite after your thru! Did not have food this time. Very nice place in an otherwise college town dominated by youngsters. I found this place fun and interesting. Parking may be a problem. |
54 This place has changed hands in the last few months. Beer is good. Didn’t have the food. Building is a bit run-down, but the inside is clean. Bartender friendly. Worth the stop-off driving between Baltimore and Cleveland. |
36 Service is bad. Food not much better. The Appalachian Ale is probably the best offering. |
36 First brewpub I ever visited... twelve years ago while a senior at WVU. I go back to Morgantown for all the home Football and many of the home Basketball games. I always visit and always leave disappointed. The place has steadily declined over the past twelve years. It is under new ownership as of May 1, 2006. Hopefully there will be changes for the better. The food is solid... at least there’s that. |
44 Nice atmosphere and pretty good home brews. Especially enjoy the WV Appalachian Ale. |
