| esjaygee (105), Oak Creek, Wisconsin | | January 24, 2009 Decent selection of beer, but I’m guessing it doesn’t turn over very well by the amount of dust on it. Saw a bottle that said best by Jan 2007 - just two years past its optimal prime. Steward mention obscure European lagers, there was a handful of those plus some other odd offerings unique to the area. If my cellar wasn’t way over stocked I might have picked up more than the one bottle I did. Prices were high to outlandish here. $24.99 for Sam Adams Chocolate Bock, $5.99 for a small bottle of Premium St Louis Lambic. Yikes.. | | Ofortuna (12), Grafton, Wisconsin | | January 17, 2007 I remember just a few years ago seeing Dark Lord on the shelves here along with some other nice rarities. Service is a bit scarey with very critical looks being directed at you and making you feel like they think you’re going to steal something. Knowledge-wise, the general staff are out of it, but the owner will make some nice small-talk with you about recent offerings and advice. The homebrew portion of the store is a bit hidden and obviously not the focus of the store. I’d avoid the kits they have as they do sit awhile and their prices are nothing to get excited about. All the previous being said, they do give away hop rhizomes once a year around Easter, I believe, and have several drawings and tastings throughout the store at that time. Worth a trip. | | StewardofGondor (122), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin | | May 3, 2005 Decent place, but nothing you can’t find at most of the other area bottle shops, unless you want some obscure European lagers. | | JCapriotti (67), Milwaukee, Wisconsin | | June 15, 2004 [ Updated December 18, 2005 ] Nice place, decent selection of popular micros and harder to find stuff, esp Belgian and British. Seems like a lot of the stuff sits on shelves a while (i.e. they still have some 2001 Old Stock Ale). They also have a homebrew store in back.
Update 12/2005: Still have the 2001 Old Stock Ale :) | | CaptainCougar (139), Rockville, Maryland | | March 14, 2004 A quaint little country store with a really nice selection of beers. Not sure about the exact number, but I'd guess around 250 bottles. Lots of hard to find British and Belgian beers as well as a decent amount of micros. The place is a little pricier than Discount Liquor, but it also has a few beers that you can't find anywhere else in the area. |
