11 reviews for Leinenkugel Brewing
bluemooner (8), Blaine, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | June 4, 2009 Tour was quite informative with decently sized groups. Brewing process and history was explained very well. Lodge is basically a tourist attraction with tons of Leinie’s merchandise but does have a nice atmosphere. Only two, seven ounce samples are given and include all of their year-round brews and the current seasonal. Not bad for $0. Worth the stop for sure. | | JMerritt (53), Macomb, Illinois | | May 26, 2009 Lodge is a museum/gift shop with more Leinie’s merchandise than you could imagine. They had a lot of old photos and old bottles/cans on display that were pretty neat. Tour didn’t allow photos, which was a bummer. Tour girl was knew her script pretty well and gave a nice walking tour of their brewery. Unfortunately, they are not brewing/bottling on Saturdays, so the factory was completely empty. I would have liked to have seen the bottling operation in action, as you walk right by the area. We visited during craft brewing week, so the free tour came with 8 or so 4-oz samples. They could have used a 3rd server in their bar for the samples, as they 2 folks they had working when I was there were pretty unattentive. Still, really nice considering it costs $0. Worth a stop if you are in the general area, through this is about all there is to do in Chippewa Falls. | | KAF (68), Coralville, Iowa | | January 25, 2008 The tour guide was very enthusiastic. The tour was busy enough to keep you interested and they covered some of the history as well. Unfortunately they don’t make the greatest beer so when you come to the end you can have three drinks in the lodge (which is a tourist trap and not much else). | | Dansting (114), Overland Park, Kansas | | June 29, 2007 Located in a small town in Wisconsin, this brewery was the first that I ever toured. The tour itself was pretty interesting, as the tour guide was informative and entertaining. The tour was free, but the only drawback to it was that they only give you two samples, because they say they want you to support the local businesses. Kinda disappointing in that aspect (especially since it’s a drive from wherever you’re coming from), but worth the stop if you’re in the area. | | troyc (72), Lubbock, Texas | | August 11, 2006 Visited a few days ago. Really nice place. The tour was pretty informative and the guide knew all about brewing and the brewing process. A lot of people in the group asked good questions that the tour guide was able to answer. The beer was served in 7 oz. sampler glasses, but at a perfect temperature. Down sides: Only 2 samples per person and not all of the beers are available to sample. | uglyblond1 (4), Nebraska does not count - explanation | | May 13, 2006 I visited quite some time ago, may not apply now? Lager was refreshing on tap, right temperature for brew. Service was very pleasnat. | | dkoonce (25), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio | | January 15, 2006 Toured in the summer of 05. New store (Linnie’s Lodge) and tasting bar. Great service with friendly servers. Brew house was typical mid major brewer. | | kmeves (97), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin | | December 1, 2005 Don’t miss the Leinies Brewery tour if you are in Chippewa Falls for any reason. You won’t be sorry! | | JK (118), Richfield, Minnesota | | April 24, 2005 [ Updated November 17, 2005 ] About 7 beers on tap, including the rare, Leinie’s Light. The Lodge is very nice, ton’s of leinie’s stuff for sale, but no beer sold at the brewery.
The tour was slick and professional, but scripted to the letter. I got the feeling that a question that wasn’t addressed in the script couldn’t be answered. It is disappointing that a brewery with German heritage, still using their original yeast, is unwilling to make German styles of beer, besides the lager and bock. Equally disappointing is a family brewery that is bought out by Miller. | | MIBRomeo (115), Wisconsin | | March 7, 2005 good place to visit.. the tour is nice but I’ve been on it to many times having grown up in CF. I like the new lodge they just opened, much bigger, lots of gear, and free beer, all the usuals and whatever seasonals are on now. |
