| Juelze (19), Green Bay, Wisconsin | | December 19, 2009 Loud old school rap, very hipstery but the beer selection wasn’t too bad and it was served in proper glassware. The food wasn’t that great. The handcut fries were soggy and not really anything to write home about. It was a nice enough place but I was expecting to be blown away but left unsatisfied. The only plus was 3F Gumbalhead on tap. | Petrucci914 (9), Green Bay, Wisconsin does not count - explanation | | December 19, 2009 Always wanted to stop at this place after seeing it on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Drives. The ambiance and clientele is a bit too hippy/trendster than I expected. We had about a 10-15 minute wait for a table, and they make you sign your name onto the waiting list instead of having a hostess which was different but not that bad. Had some decent beers on tap and a pretty nice bottle list. It kinda sucked that they server breakfast so late, as you can’t really get any hot sandwiches until after 3 in the afternoon. My brother and I split sandwiches and the one I ordered was pretty good, but his, the Leghorn, just didnt do it for us at the time. Overall pretty good food and nice beer selection, good service, but a bit too trendy for me and loud. I guess I’m a bit too old for 24. | | bonk0076 (17), Milwaukee, Wisconsin | | November 9, 2009 Nice little place a few blocks from my house that my girlfriend and I go to for bruch on the weekends. My only knock on the place is that the kitchen is pretty slow, but they usually are busy. Good selection of beers (primarily in bottles). | | beerwolf77 (11), Milwaukee, Wisconsin | | July 10, 2009 The food is the star here. That being said they have a fantastic beer selection too. They don’t really focus on taps but, they have afew. The bottles are where they shine. 150 to chose from. The food is out of this world good. Go here for a great meal and have a top notch craft beer to wash it down. | | 1FastSTi (90), Glendale, Wisconsin | | October 1, 2008 Very interesting place. They have a chalk board where one can place an order to buy a buddy a drink if they weren’t able to be there with you. That board is ever-changing and quite fun. Food selection is good with a few entrees, breakfast until 3 PM I think, and lots of pub grub. Free bacon from 5PM to close on Sunday with a purchase. | | Flyer (50), Hartland, Wisconsin | | May 19, 2007 Is it a diner? A coffee shop? A bar? It’s all three. Tremendous bottle selection and a handful of good but not great beers on tap. Happy hour prices are great. Mostly a younger east side crowd, but it’s impossible for anyone not to feel welcome here. The atmosphere is pleasantly anti-establishment (but not in the "angry" way some similar places can be). One negative is that it can get too crowded, but the bottom line is that I love this place. Food is very good -- I recommend the ahi tuna sandwich. | | BeerBelcher (130), Columbus, Ohio | | December 16, 2006 This place is a new place on Farwell. A friend told me about it, and I recently stopped in for lunch with a different friend. The place is definitely got a young hipster kind of attitude to it. While I’m unlikely to find too much in common with the majority of the clientele, everyone was very friendly and the beer experience was extremely impressive. First, the selection of beer is excellent. There are about 10 beers on draft and another 115 in bottles on the beer list. The quality of beers featured is exceptional. They feature a Lakefront IPA (Mangey Rabbit) I’d never before heard of. They had a black pepper pale by Furthermore (Knot Stock) that was also good. The 115 bottles would be the envy of many liquor stores. The service was friendly, but not really beer savvy. The food was good. The menu features a variety of vegan dishes, but definitely have something for the carnivore also. The food was very good. Last, Comet Cafe appears committed to craft brewing and has a variety of specials and events to expose the public to craft beer. Most impressive is a "Beer University," held on the first Tuesday of the month (for a $15 fee). They also have craft beer specials. The going rate for beers was reasonable, and hitting some specials I believe would make an evening at the Comet downright reasonable. I would definitely revisit this place to see what’s new. |
