August 16, 2009 Never rated it in the past but sorry to see it go. Never enjoyed the smokiness, but always had good service anda fine selection. |

July 1, 2008 Great selection of tap beers and decent enough food. Bar staff was always friendly and talkative even when busy. I heard originally that they were renovating the old building, now I hear that they will not be moving back. I hope it’s not true because I would miss the old building. |

January 8, 2008 I’ve been here a few times, and usually shortly after opening, so I cannot comment on the rush. This rating reflects the pre-renovation condition, as that was my last trip. The bar has a very convenient airport/Amtrak location, which works well for unexpected travel delays (or can cause them). The interior was dark and slightly smoky, with the impressive array of taps providing most of the aesthetic appeal. I’ve never had anything but friendly, attentive, and informative service. The beer selection is very good, usually with more than one how the hell did he get that kinda taps. The place was a little smoky, but it’s a bar. Great stuff! |

January 6, 2008 The Landmark 1850 does have a few redeeming qualities: 50 taps (most of which are high-quality American crafts)... But, that’s about it. The ambiance isn’t bad, but it’s not great either. Same goes for the service. And, I have one complaint that balances out the huge positive that comes from their large selection. On several occasions I’ve had beers there that tasted much worse than what I’m accustomed to from those same brands from a bottle. I’m not sure if it’s dirty glassware, unclean taplines, or what, but there’s a distinct difference between their taps and my other experiences with those beers. So, overall, the Landmark is OK, but it still doesn’t compare with some of Milwaukee’s other top beer bars. |

January 2, 2008 I’ve worked in Milwaukee several times and always come back to the Landmark. Wonderful selection, service and servers. Food is good. I earned the mug...worth the effort for sure! Cool history too, with a copper ceiling (?), old-time equipment and real old-time feel. Sorry to hear they may be closed for (renovation)....not making the trip up there from Chicago now due to this. Hope for a re-visit sometime? |

November 10, 2007 Word of caution: In late October 2007, Landmark 1850 (Milwaukee’s greatest South Side beer bar) closed for renovations. The delightful bartenders, waitresses and bouncers (but only about 15 of the beer taps) have been picked up and moved one building south to what I believe was a vacant building that is now called The Terminal. This place is HUGE and is still a nice experience, but it’s not the Landmark. Our fast and friendly waitress had no estimate for when they might be moving back to the original building. |

September 28, 2007 Long bar with just too many tap selections (insert sarcasm symbol here). Jeff is always attentive and he always seems to have a cute beer-maid working as well. My service rating should be qualified as I typically only get to this place in the mid to late afternoon. It has been years since I frequented this establishment during the "high traffic" hours. A very nice rotation of barrels and always looking for a new rarity to put on tap. I have never eaten here, but It seem that the fare looks adequate for the average pub dweller. Look forward to the time, sans kids, when I can stop in and not have to worry about being anywhere. |

July 15, 2007 This would be my favorite bar if I lived near Milwaukee. It has a definite old charm and claims to be the oldest continuous bar in the area. The selection was truly impressive. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and was a marvel of efficiency. Watching her handle the vast number of customers was almost as delightful as the beers. There were plenty of good brews on tap and I added a couple to my list. |

May 25, 2007 Not my favorite in Milwaukee -- No pitchers on weekends in a bar where tap beer reigns supreme!
Often Standing room only but a decent patio in the summer if you can handle the fact that its across the street from the airport. |
