| RagallachMC (30), Cleveland, Ohio | | October 2, 2006 I was part of a large party here and really had a good time. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was plentiful and good. A wide range of german beers covering most of the styles and with something for anyone. Beers are served in authentic glassware. The decor of the place really makes the experience unique. Worth a stop just to see the place. | BCAR (6), Naperville, Illinois does not count - explanation | | March 8, 2006 The decor alone in this place is worth the trip. Suits of armor. One of a kind steins. Waitresses in dirndls. Really enjoyable. They were out of a couple of standard German brews, but I forgave them when a Franziskaner dunkel settled in front of me. Food is decent, but not outstanding. For sure something to see when in Milwaukee. | | jewedekind (36), Middleton , Wisconsin | | January 29, 2006 I know it is a running debate over whether Mader’s or Karl Ratzsch’s is the best German restaurant in Milwaukee, but I choose the latter. That said, Mader’s is very good. The decor is overdone, though everything is legit. The food is also very good and authentic - just not unique in any way. My rouladen was a bit dry. The beers are served in proper glassware and the staff knows them well. Overall, a very good restaurant. | | StewardofGondor (122), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin | | December 28, 2004 [ Updated April 28, 2005 ] Best German food and likewise German beer selection in the city. Taps rotate but they always have a descent line-up. There’s even a Compendium of Beers program which rewards those who have all 100+ of their beers. |
