| LawStudent09 (58), Saint Paul, Minnesota | | March 26, 2008 I loved the atmosphere here and the service was great. I sat at the bar and there was a live band playing what sounded like local folk music. The beer was pretty good as well. The bartender was very accommodating. | MHED (4), lisle, does not count | | September 27, 2007 Located in an old creamery building, it is loaded with old beer signs, and beer memorabilia. It is definitly not your run of the mill cookie cutter brewpub with shiny kettles and fancy tap handles. No, this place is loaded with character and interesting crowds which can change in a second. Local musicians, artists, hunters, and even goverment officials have been know to frequent the place. The staff and brewer are always excited to talk about beer and the passion they have for the industry is evident. They had 7 or 8 of there own beer on tap, including the fresh tapping of there Octoberfest beer. The rest were a nice variety ranging from there "Ultra Fat Ass" lo-carb beer, to a Dark roasty brew called Burntwood Black. This place is definitley worth trying if you are in northern Wi. and need some craft beer. Just walk in with a smile on your face and a thirst | linkolnlogg (3), your home, Minnesota does not count | | August 6, 2006 [ Updated August 10, 2006 ] Venue is reminiscent of hanging out in an midwest barn/house/etc where your friends gathered in teenage years to party. Atmosphere is very laid back... Live music (blues) was playing at the time I visited. Staff was very friendly and even passed out cookies while I was there to help absorb beer- I assume. Food was markedly the pizza variety but included tasteful vegetarian options. Nice place to visit if you are in the area but beer not really comperable to Fitgers just across the river. | | CharlesDarwin (81), State College, Pennsylvania | | April 2, 2005 [ Updated March 27, 2006 ] You need to go into this place with a special state of mind. Don’t expect your run of the mill brewpub. This is for Superior residents. The beers waver, but there’s some gems if you can find them. | | badgerben (77), Blaine, Minnesota | | February 5, 2005 Holy crap does this place ever define ’dive’. It has the 50’s junkyard theme going on. Their regulars are in the ’okay’ range and some seasonals make you want to poke your eyes out, but then they go ahead and make some really damn fine brews. If you’re spending time up in the area, it’s worth a hit once. |
