Surprised I hadn’t rated this place before. This is probably the 4th or 5th visit. Quite frankly the place appears to be dying. What was once a fairly vibrant restaurant with grill your own steaks and fairly fresh, tasty brews, is now looking a bit run down. Was there on a Saturday in the middle of the lunch hour and the place was empty. Too many employees. Our waitress was overly eager. I clearly wanted to look up their beers online on my phone to figure out what I wanted and she came back 3 times in 2 minutes asking me what I wanted. She also took my beer away before I was done with it. The presentation of the food was a joke. I ordered a wrap, at the suggestion of the waitress and it came on a huge plate with nothing on it but the wrap (cut in two) tucked to one side of this big empty plate. The food itself was above average, but not by much. The beer I had was watery. I’m afraid this place may not be around for long.

get rid of the frickin’ slot machines in the pub room. looks too cheesy. better if the first kevin was still the brewmaster. selection - most of the regulars like a pale ale. how can you have days/weeks when you are out?

Went here after a long day hiking at Rib Mountain. Service was a tad on the slow side, but the place is ginormous. Very loud and echo-y. Had a beer sampler -- everything is good except for their Pilsener, which is god awful. Steaks were good, I cooked mine myself, and everything was well abover average. Looking forward to going back!

They had a good number of beers on tap, two of which they bottle. Over all the beers were pretty good. The steak is cheap and good.

I visited here once, and I am in no hurry to return. After waiting about 20 minutes for a server to come by (it wasn’t that busy, we were seated immediately), I proceeded to order the stout. Five minutes later, the waitress returned saying that they were out of stout, and handed me an ale instead. Note she never came by to tell me they were out of stout and ask if I wanted something else instead. When the food came, I found the grilled chicken to be cooked to a crisp, and the "piece" of lettuce on top to be shriveled and wilted. I would have returned it had the service not been so slow. The other three people dining along with me found their food to be okay, nothing special. After 1.5 hours at the place, we were finally allowed to leave. Obviously, I don’t recommend this place for lunch; we were there from 12:10 to 1:40. My comment card read, "Worst chicken sandwich I’ve ever had, and believe me, I’ve had a lot of them." Based on the other reviews, it sounds as though my experience was atypical, but I’m glad I finally have a public venu where I can denounce this place. And by the way, the ale was pretty lousy.

A cook your own steak place with a brewpub. The steak I had was pretty tough, and I had them cook it. The other fare is very basic, and average. Is often packed and is huge. I’ve been there three times and never had good service. Sometimes the staff was plain rude. Beers are hit and miss..mostly miss. They do a lot of styles, none are memorable, and a few are bad. I’ve only been in the bar once, and it seems nice and friendly.

This place had 9 beers on tab and offers them as a sampler. The food is pretty good and at a cheap price the atmosphere was goof, had a live sax, keyboardist and singer.

Your best bet for beer in Wausau. Quite a few taps, but it always seems like 2 or 3 don’t have any beer on them at the moment. Beers are average.

Despite the name and faux Northwoods decor that seems to afflict 75% of all brewpubs and taverns N of the Wisconsin border, this is actually a pretty decent brewpub specializing in solid, if unspectacular, German-styled offerings both in food and drink. Fish and game are good bets.
