“We stopped here for lunch during a visit to the nearby area of Sidi-Ferruch, where the French first landed in 1830. The area itself is very much worth visiting, quiet, historic, lots of little bars and even a poolhall in nooks and crannies. Walk out onto the tip of the point and you can see that the massive Sheraton dwarfs everything else around it, in the middle of the beach area. Inside it’s a massive Western style resort with several bars that carry great selections of local wines, and also a small range of lagers. Food was very tasty, especially, of course, the couscous; we had both vegetarian and fish versions, very fresh. But I prefer the tiny warren of places nearer the town though.“

“Algeria is a muslim country that has minor alcohol restrictions. They make their own beer and wine, but its not openly advertised or seen on the street. The Sheraton is right on the beach, great atmosphere. Two taps with Desperado and Tango. standard bottles of Heineken, Stella, Beck.“
