44 /100 Griffin Hotel (Bar) CHURCH STREET Update February 2017: The Griffin seems to no longer be concentrating on ales at all. On my recent visit only Abbot and Wolf Battle of Britain were available. ----- Slightly tired hotel with a magnificent pub carpet....and a few decent real ales. Convivial, well-loved, old-fashioned and comfortable. The bar is very olde-worlde, exposed brick and timbers add to the atmosphere. Sports shown on TV, which I’m cool with. A decent place to sample a beer or three. |
60 /100 CHURCH STREET Update February 2017. I’ve been here twice now, both times a decent cask choice but neither time was any of the elusive Taylor’s on offer. ---- Decent 1.5-room drinkers’ pub in this small Norfolk town between Norwich and Thetford. Nice little patio/smoking area out back. There’s a brewery out back which brews intermittently - none on when I was there which was a disappointment but such is life. The beers are very well kept, and what you miss in choice you gain in quality. The Oldershaw beers I had here were in perfect nick. A nice place to drink but by no means a destination. |
