They don’t have the largest selection of beers but what they do have in stock is good stuff. Continuous stock of 3 Floyds regulars and seasonals. Lots of Dark Horse (found PT5 here), Founders, Revolution, Half Acre, Bell’s, Great Lakes, The Bruery, Firestone Walker. Also, lots of Central Waters 4pks (BBBW, BBS, Peruvian Morning). Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are normally fair though certain items can be a bit more pricey than other places such as Binnys. Definitely the best place for craft beer in Barrington. Kinda hidden in a strip mall, a little diamond in the rough.“ |
| 36 /100 Barrington Cellars (Beer Store) 340 W NORTHWEST HWY “I will come here every once in awhile during the spring/summer to pick up a sixer of something hoppy for my softball games (park across the street). Their craft selection is not large but has a little more than your average hole in the wall liquor store. They usually have a lot of Founders, Stone, Lagunitas, Dogfish Head, and some of the locals such as Wild Onion. They also carry some 3 Floyds but they gouge the prices on those. One time I wanted to purchase a sixer of Gumballhead and the dude behind the counter was trying to charge me almost $18 for it... pretty ridiculous. Also, be sure to check bottle dates if possible when visiting this place. I have seen a lot of expired beers on their shelves, which means they rarely rotate stock. No one likes a skunky, expired beer. As far as service goes, the staff is not very helpful. Seems to be family run. None of the staff is very knowledgeable with beer. Nobody comes to you asking if you need help with anything. Good thing I know what I am looking for whenever I go in there. Like the review below me mentions, the staff behind the counter likes to chat on personal phone calls while you are being check out. Would not recommend this place to beer enthusiasts, but is fine if you are looking for something common and just happen to be in the area.“ |
