68 /100 6833 STANLEY AVENUE This is a basic brewpub with pizza. Lots of hardcore and thrash being played. The beers are semi-decent. They need a bit more variety here though. The beers are all on the stronger side and some are variants of others. I’m sure the quality of selection will improve. The water is filtered here which is a plus. The flights are pretty reasonable and service is good. |
76 /100 6833 STANLEY AVENUE Newly opened in Spring 2017 at the Berwyn IL. location. Old "Shotgun" length building, they have a wood burning stove for Pizza and a long bar. The coffee stout was notable. Two brother owners were nice. Need to try their pizza next visit. |
82 /100 Lavergne’s Tavern (Bar) 6546 WINDSOR AVE. Recently opened, nice appointments to this neighborhood, edge of town, corner setting. Just south of bustling train traffic, with rear patio to follow. Sister spot to Ellyn’s in Glen Ellyn, IL., and Warren’s in Wheaton, IL.. Surprised & happy to see old friend, Joel M., running the show when I stopped in the early afternoon. Too few additional patrons to get a good ambiance reading, but favorably consistent across the board with the other locations. |
90 /100 Cigars and Stripes (Bar) 6715 OGDEN AVE Restaurant located off the main strip in Berwyn in an old house. Décor is wonderful with plenty of horror artworks and other funky artifacts. Beer selection is quite good and food offering is limited by of high-quality. Waitress was really nice and knows how to handle the place. Worth a stop for sure if you are in the area. |
80 /100 7138 WINDSOR AVE. Nice cozy Irish Pub near the Chicago Metra BNFS trainline. Nice folks, neighborhood feel. Good selection of bottles for a small place, and good Irish beers and Irish owner. |
80 /100 Route 66 Beverage (Beer Store) 6847 OGDEN AVE I have been to this store about a half a dozen times and each time I have picked up beer I hadn’t seen anywhere else. The score will go up each time that happens in the future. |
80 /100 Berwyn Food & Liquor (Beer Store) 6338 W. OGDEN AVE. The one thing that stood out about this establishment is that they keep a lot of the craft beer cold. So if you like to enjoy your beer shortly after buying it (like I do), this will work well for you. |
90 /100 Cigars and Stripes (Bar) 6715 OGDEN AVE Great atmosphere and excellent beer selection. They also serve food (rib tips, pizza, chili, etc.) Comedy shows on Saturday nights and open mic comedy every Wednesday. |
60 /100 Route 66 Beverage (Beer Store) 6847 OGDEN AVE Route 66 has a surprising craft beer selection. Not huge, and not really stuff that you won’t find anywhere else, but worth a stop if you’re in the area or you live nearby. |
