“Visited here on a Saturday evening for dinner. It was crowded but there wasn't a wait. Nice environment. More modern and less cluttered than a lot of other Mellow Mushroom locations. Right in downtown Bowling Green, not far from the WKU campus. Service was very friendly but slow, which wasn't ideal with kids. The food was good, in line with other MMs we've been to. Pretty good value. Decent taplist with a lot of Kentucky crafts. Beers were served in regular pint glasses and too cold. Basically, if you've ever been to a Mellow Mushroom anywhere before, this one is going to be in line with expectations. Not the best one I've tried but not the worst.“

“Excellent craft beer selection when I was there (spring 2019). Many that I had not yet seen, and I check out beer stores everywhere I travel. Selection was very current. Service was helpful especially since it was my first time in the store and I was unfamiliar with the layout.“

“The beer selection isn't extensive and is fairly predictable, but they did have a nice wine selection. The staff was knowledgeable about spirits, but if you're looking for beer, look elsewhere.“

“A solid spot in BG, but the wine and spirit list is a lot more extensive than the beer. They do have a growler station with 20ish taps too though, which is nice. Just don't expect to find anything too esoteric.“

“Dedicated free parking lot. The place was not busy on a Wednesday and service was good. Pints and individual samples are available. I like the mighty meaty pizza. The tap selection had quite a bit of local beers. I would come back.“

“Decent selection of beer here, and a few good local items. Some imports, which are a little expensive here, but seems to be the trend in Kentucky. Mostly bombers and six packs, though there are some local singles.“

“Reminds me a lot of Total Wine in the east. Lots of beer, lots of singles for sale, and lots of imports. Good amount of local stuff and some Great Lakes stuff from 3 Floyds, Prairie and others. Prices ok, but high for imported stuff. Good place to load up on ticks from local breweries.“

“Decent tap list with some local stuff and some out of state stuff like 3 Floyds. The food was just ok - I didn’t have their famous pizza because it was like $25 for a small. Thanks but no thanks. Instead I opted for a calzone which was decent. Service was friendly. Only pints here but they will offer sample tastes of taps if you’re polite.“

“A wine bar with a good tap list on the southern end of Bowling Green. You can buy 5oz samples here of everything on tap, and fill up growlers when it isn’t busy. Friendly staff. Seems more wine focused, but they had a good mix of local beers and some cool other state stuff like 3 Floyds.“

“Pretty awesome shop in Bowling Green where I couldn’t find much else really besides Liquor Barn. Prices were fair enough I thought. Will definitely be back when I’m in BG again.“

“Small dedicated parking right in front. Good size place. Descent quantity of beers. This place has some singles, but not all. Good prices. Descent Belgian selection and okay selection of US. Was there for quite a while and nobody asked to help. I didn’t find anything to buy. Sounds like this place used to get better stuff.“

“Overview: Lost River Pizza Co. is a local pizza and craft beer joint. The outside of the store boasts of their award winning pizza more than anything else, and once you try it, its easy to see why. The interior of the building is a mixture of classic sports bar with industrial/rustic touches; the walls are decorated with framed posters, memorabilia, etc. Shania Twain stands guard over the urinal (not the real thing, unfortunately). Seating-wise, the place is mostly big booths with a few stand alone tables closer to the bar.

All in all, it’s very much the sort of place that is the realization of one man’s dream. That man is owner Keith Coffman, and he came over and talked to my son and I for a few minutes, as well as exchanging pleasantries with other customers. I’m not sure if he always does that, but he seemed very friendly and like the proud papa of his business- a Sam Cruz (Against the Grain) type. Otherwise, service met all of our needs, and were appropriately attentive throughout the visit. I’ve went ahead and added the selection available during my visit; the current tap list is also always available on their website. The quality of the beer list rivals MM in town, but had a little too much ubiquitous craft options for my liking (see: lots of California and Colorado beers). However, they did have at least five KY brews on, and Three Floyds as well; the smallest measures available seemed to be 12 oz. My son and I shared a meat pizza (Uncle Freddy) that was quite delicious and filling (our 12" pan pizza was too much to finish in one sitting). But wow... $23 for a 12" pizza? Close to $30 for others on the menu? It was really, really good pizza, but it wasn’t life changing. I’ve had pizzas nearly as good in Louisville that weren’t over $20. Some drinks seemed a little north on price as well, but not quite as much as the pizza.

PROS: Nice place and setup; prompt, friendly service; very solid beer selection; delicious pizza. CONS: Some beer selection a little phoned in; prices were borderline ridiculous on pizza; would’ve liked the option for smaller beer measures. OVERALL: Fixing the pizza prices would go a long way to making this place a must visit in town. I’d probably still stop at MM first, but this is worth a shot as well. In a strip mall, so parking is easy-peasy. In the same complex as Wino’s Depot, which I need to visit in the very near future.“

“Overview: Chuck’s Wine and Spirits is aptly named: if I were shopping for either wine or spirits, this would be a premier stop, especially regarding their wine. Nearly the whole right half of the store is dedicated to wine, and even features a small lounge area with sofas and such to sit and read; also a tasting bar (seemingly for wine) in the back right of the store. Probably one of the nicest wine sections I’ve seen in the state. If you’re wanting sake ticks, there’s a shelf section dedicated to them as well, with a variety of price options.

I didn’t use any sort of service much; only to ask if they stocked any Tennessee beers (they don’t) but I was approached and asked if I needed assistance, so kudos for that. So, to beer... their selection reminds me of Liquor Barn, maybe a little better than the average Liquor Barn. What concerns me is the age of some things in stock that simply aren’t meant to age. 2011 bottles of Czech imperial pils, for instance. Otherwise, you aren’t likely to find anything here that you couldn’t find at stores in Lexington or Louisville. Price-wise, I’d imagine they were competitive in the area.

PROS: Lots of beer to choose from; nice wine/sake section. CONS: Questionable age on some items (makes you wonder about the stock at-large); no growler station. OVERALL: Worth a stop if you’re coming into Bowling Green from TN, but not so much if you’re coming in from KY metros. A limited amount of parking on premise, and close to I-65.“

“Overview: Mellow Mushroom in Bowling Green is located close to WKU in the downtown area of the city. It’s about a fifteen minute drive into town from the Corvette Museum (which is how I ended up here in the first place). Anyway, this MM has the classic rock/psychedelia vibe of other MMs, but also has some more personal touches (such as some of the featured artwork). I didn’t give service the "beer Jeopardy" treatment, so I can’t speak on their knowledge, but I will say that my server (Cecily) seemed to do her job with care, humor and attentiveness. I was pretty surprised by the selection here; better than I have seen at any other KY MM, and I’d wager the best tap selection in Bowling Green (I called around, and theirs was the best I found). About one page of taps, and one of bottles/cans updated weekly. Food is the typical tasty but decadent MM fare. Value on beers and food is fair. PROS: Excellent service; surprising selection. CONS: The parking lot is painted blue, which makes it look like one big handicapped zone; would like if MM offered half pints but that’s not a location-specific qualm. OVERALL: Would happily come back; definitely a place to visit in Bowling Green. Parking lot is available, but may quickly fill during peak times. Since you’re in a college zone, I’d imagine that the tow trucks might be out in force if you park somewhere questionable during the week.“

“Typical beer store - probably 200 different choices with a lot of variety, but nothing I haven’t seen before. Very small selection of singles, with no particular theme. The "beer guy" was very willing to assist, and probably knows his stuff. I didn’t see any signs of taps or growlers. Overall, good.“

“Located not too far off of exit 22, this is a popular place for us Nashvillians to get out of market beer. For starters, they have Bells, FFF, Founders, Goose Island, etc. Second, they bring in limited release and rare kegs for growler fills. This is because Blake, and avid beer enthusiast himself, has established friendships with the craft beer community in the region. You call ahead and show up when he is working, he’ll treat you right. The selection can vary at times because Blake moves a lot of beer, especially the rare and limited release stuff. Sometimes you have to ask for stuff because it’s not on the floor. Great store with great people running it.“

“Checked out this place while I was in Bowling Green for a Fire Department recruit meeting, and I was like a kid in a candy store. I was here for about and hour and a half and left about $150 bucks poorer. Got some Three Floyds Arctic Panzer Wolf, Sam Infinium, a few Great Lakes, a few Brooklyn beers, Bells 10,000, Sierra 30th and Beer Camps, Goose Night Stalker, Stone Oaked Bastard and some Dogfish. Staff didn’t seem to be around to help but, then again, I didn’t ask for any. Also, I found a Maker’s Mark whisky blooper pack that I hadn’t heard about and Maker’s cigars which I’m always trying to find. Overall, it was awesome! I can’t wait for my next meeting in BG so I can drive the 4 hours and come back with more treasures.“

“I drove in from Nashville with a buddy because i’d heard the rumors and had met Blake, their beer guy, at a tasting. This place is by far way better than any store in TN, and any store in South Florida. they have beer on tap to fill growlers and a nice 100+ year old bar in the back where they do tastings and events. You can get just about any beer they have either refrigerated or warm, and they sell everything in singles or packs. Huge display case of glassware at great prices (most under$5) is also a big plus.“

“Shenanigans differs from any other liquor store I have ever been in (within the Kentucky/Tennessee areas) because: 1) The store is very uplifting and alive, as soon as you walk in you know the whole staff is having fun and catering for you to have fun as well 2) The staff is EXTREMELY friendly and will special order you anything you want and even call you when it comes in, as was my case for getting in Sam Adams Utopias last year 3) They have a crazy good selection of macro, micro, and imported beer that is available both cold and warm (more so cold than warm). I found a number of products that I couldn’t locate anywhere else in town. The cold beer is COLD too, not luke-warm as would be the case if they kept it on shelves that were accessed via doors. You have to actually go into the "Beer Cave" and...lord forbid...browse in the cold. Being cold is not too much of a sacrifice when you consider how cold the beer you’re getting will be. If you’re an old snob who likes a nice quiet peaceful environment to buy booze and beer I suggest you go to a store owned by old snobs. I prefer to go out, have fun, and enjoy browsing unlimited selections in an uplifting environment. I say "unlimited" because they’ll order anything for you humanly possible (I’ve used this courtesy a number of times). Definitely recommend so far.“

“Drove up to Chuck’s from Nashville. Thought they had a good beer selection. Lots of different beers not found in TN. Staff was very helpful and showed us some good beers kept in the back. Had good selection of beers found in coolers and a larger selection found on the shelves. Picked up some Bells Batch 10,000, Expedition Stout & 3rd Coast Old Ale, Founders Breakfast Stout, Backwoods Bastard & Old Curmudgeon, Three Floyds Arctic Panzer Wolf, Dreadnaught IPA & Behemoth, Great Divide Old Ruffian, Dogfish Head/Three Floyds Poppaskull, also had selections of Great Lakes and Goose Island as well as Anchor Old Foghorn. You can make your own six pack as well as buy beer glassware. Was a good trip and I will go back.“

“Another very nice Chuck’s store. Seems to have a tad bit better selection of craftbeer at this store. Can "create your own" 6 pack, which is perfect for reviewing beers. The staff is friendly and helpful, however maybe not as much as the store on Louisville Rd. Either way a great place to visit. Wine tastings are a common feature at this store as well as the others. I will definitely continue to stop by when I’m in Bowling Green.“

“This is about the only place I ever shop for beer. I live in a dry county and this place is the closest to my house. About 46 miles one way. Nice little store that usually has a nice selection of craftbeer along with an excellent selection of liquor. One can create 6 packs of singles now, which is nice and they even have wine tastings a couple days a week. The staff is always very friendly, but sometimes not as knowledgeable as I would like about craftbeer. The only other gripe I would have is they don’t rotate the beer as often as they should. The staff always helps me to the car with my selections. I will continue to frequent this place as long as I can find something I have never tried.“

“This is a must-stop for any craft-beer lover in the area or just passing through, like I was. Large, well-appointed store. Blake, the beer specialist, is very knowledgeable and is a true beer geek. They have an outstanding selection of American and European craft beer and pour some very impressive stuff in the back at their growler station (they had Brooklyn’s Cookie Jar Porter when I stopped in). They also seem to have some really nice rarities tucked away in the back. The prices were very reasonable, and some of the specials they had were really quite a deal. I frequently travel through BG on my way to Nashville for business and I will make a point now of stopping at Chuck’s when I do so.“

“THIS PLACE IS PRETTY NEW I THINK, BUT I LIKE IT. AFTER GOING AROUND TOWN AND CHECKING OUT OTHER STORES INCLUDING THE NEW KROGERS I WAS IMPRESSED BY THE SELECTION OF IMPORTS AND CRAFTS. I WAS TOLD BY ANOTHER PLACE THAT I COULDN’T GET UTOPIA IN BOWLING GREEN. SHENANIGANS HAD 5 BOTTLES. THE PRICES ON EVERYTHING WAS GREAT. I WENT TO THREE OTHER PLACES TODAY AND THE LAST WAS THE BEST! “Good sized store with an impressive selection of wine, spirits and, of course, beer. I had no idea where to go for thje beer initially so I headed towards the back where I could see cooler doors. Whoa. St. Bernardus, Maredsous, Duvel, Great Divide, Founders, Great Lakes, Bell’s...door after door. I have to admit I was impressed but hoped there was an aisle as well. Um, yeah there was an aisle. It must have taken me 10 minutes on my first pass as I took in all the beer. I immediately walked to the front of the store and requested a cart! The lower ABV selection is not as extensive as the higher ABV but they have pretty much anything you could want, including whatever shitty beer you might need to pick up for your grandpa. The wine and beer specialist, Blake, is also there to help out with some goodies from the treasure chest. Highly recommended.“

“On a seven day work trip to the beer wasteland of Nashville, I was fortunate to find Chuck’s, only an hour’s drive away across the border. I like how you can see the "LIQUOR" sign from I-65 as you approach exit 22. I was also fortunate to get guidance from Blake, their beer specialist, and fellow Dark Lord Day attendee. The selection of beers not available in my home Seattle area was top notch. Blake even dove into the cooler to find me some Founders, Schlafley, and Troegs rarities. The store also has an impressive selection of bourbon and other whiskey. And, one of their other BG stores does growler fills. If you’re visiting Nashville, or live there, this place is an oasis in the desert. I have heard, though, that Tennessee tax law can get you thrown in jail for bringing beer across the border.“

“This is by far the best beer store in bowling green, and a must visit for anyone in Nashville seeking a different selection of micros. Their beer selection just keeps getting better and better. Most Bells offerings, Great Lakes, some Goose Island. The owner is really making an effort to bring in the hard to find stuff. Last visit had some Cantillon, Mikkeller and a Nogne-O Dark Horizon (which I bought the only one of). I keep going back to this place. Value is better than Nashville beer stores too.“

“This package store is located conveniently off I-65, and it has an enormous selection of everything. As incredibly huge it is, they utilize every bit of space given, and fill it up with something cool. They have a great beer selection from all over the place. Being from Wisc, when I stopped in to check out their mix and match- they didn’t have a whole lot of Kentucky beer in it. So I asked a gentleman, who appeared to be the manager and he immediately put together a six pack of beer for me from different KY breweries. As if that wasn’t enough, on our way out they had a barrel of some beer that they brew, and we sampled that. We also wanted to buy some plastic cups but they gave it to us for free. Excellent service from everyone there, and next time Im in the area, I am definately stopping by.“

IT WOULD BE EASIER TO LOOK AT THE TOP 25 RATED BEERS FOR THIS AREA. THEY HAVE AT LEAST 17 OF THEM THAT I NOTICED. FOR THE MUSIC AND AMBIANCE I LIKED IT. “First impression with walking into the store is a wine-stained faux fountain and more often than not ridiculously loud, crummy music. The selections for the beer is generic and small in comparison to their wine and liquor shelves. If you are feeling like expermienting beyond your usual beer purchase, you should look in the beer cooler. They have a couple shelves of a couple 6-packs in the cooler, like Two Hearted Ale and Bells. The employees are very friendly, but pretty much don’t know you exist until you approach the register. A semi-decent place if you’re just leaving Kroger and want your usual beer.“

“The beer selection is as limited as the service. (meaning low) They have a few six packs, a few from Bells and Flying Dog but if you’re feeling more adventurous, you’re out of luck. Also, in order to look at the micro-brews, you have to stand in the beer cave and freeze while you browse. The whole time I was in there I didn’t talk to any staff until I was ready to check out but when you do make it to the register, the staff IS friendly and they are eager to make sure you’re satisfied. The music physically assaults you when you open the door, and it’s generally angry/angsty/teenager/corporate rock. Good for timid drinkers/underage drinkers/newly-turned-21-year-olds who think Blue Moon is cutting edge.“

As far as beer goes they have by far one of the top selections around town.
