48 /100 PHILIPSTOCKSTRAAT 19 we were after our dinner and we just wanted to drink some beer but we were not allowed to enter, despite that there were free places at the bar counter. It may be acceptable that some restaurants don't allow you to go inside if you don't eat, as well, BUT PLEASE! This place is so proud on their beer selection! serious disappointment! |
82 /100 English Tobacco Belgian Beers and Souvenirs (Grocery Store) KATELIJNESTRAAT 39 hundreds of Belgian beers, including Westvleteren blond, 8 and 12 (!!!) in a souvenir shop?!? like a dream! |
66 /100 La Dentellière Bruges (Restaurant) WIJNGAARDSTRAAT 33 an excellent restaurant with Brugse Zop blonde and dubbel, as well as Liefmans Fruitesse on tap and Brugs Tarwebier, Brugse Tripel, Duvel, Straffe Hendrik Tripel, Liefman kriek, Straffe Hendrik Quadrupel and Westmalle tripel in bottles; worth visiting for a dinner |
56 /100 Friterie 1900 (Restaurant) MARKT 35 a good place to eat frites with some local beer; they have nothing really special, but at least Brugse Zot blond and dubbel are available on tap |
82 /100 Bruges Bier Museum (Bar) BREIDELSTRAAT 3 16 beers on tap (Belgian ones and La Trappe quad), great ambiance; worth visiting |
84 /100 Café Cambrinus (Bar) PHILIPSTOCKSTRAAT 7 Great selection of Belgian beers on tap; worth visiting |
94 /100 The Bottle Shop (Beer Store) WOLLESTRAAT 13 Amazing selection of Belgian beers |
84 /100 KARTUIZERINNENSTRAAT 6 Great atmosphere and beers - worth visiting |
80 /100 Le Trappiste (Bar) KUIPERSSTRAAT 33 Bar with a huge selection of Belgian beers. |
62 /100 Brasserie Mozarthuys (Restaurant) HUIDENVETTERSPLEIN 1/2 Expensive restaurant with a small selection of Belgian beers.
Tasty food. |
70 /100 KARTUIZERINNENSTRAAT 6 Brewery with their own beers. |
78 /100 The Bottle Shop (Beer Store) WOLLESTRAAT 13 Bottle shop with a huge selection of Belgican beers. |
72 /100 WALPLEIN 26 Fell in love with this place at first sight.
Lovely patio and very good food.
Also a fine beer selection.
Loved to sit by the fire place and watch the swans in the canal outside.
Central location in the city.
Also other fine beer places at the square outside.

66 /100 @ The Pub (Bar) 4 HALLESTRAAT Not a solid beer place like many other in this city
Was ok for a night cup before bed time
Located close to the main square in Brugge
|
92 /100 ’t Brugs Beertje (Bar) KEMELSTRAAT 5 Nice atmosphere. Solid selection. And in the heart of the city
Absolutely a recommendable place
Pure class

64 /100 The Bottle Shop (Beer Store) WOLLESTRAAT 13 Decent bottle shop centrally located in Brugge. Mainly (if only) Belgian beers in a wide range. Both large and small (new) breweries across the country are representated, and all from popular beers to rare bottles. Worth a visit when in town. |
94 /100 ’t Brugs Beertje (Bar) KEMELSTRAAT 5 Vistited in July 2023. Lovely, worn in, crowded little pub with very friendly staff and customers. Benefits from the existence of a world class beer culture throughout the region, and the enormous beer list is something extra. Down to earth, yet world class kind of place. |
86 /100 WALPLEIN 26 I was unable to go inside here with my wife on our first time in Bruges. No chance of that happening this visit. We had our adult kids with us and I think we were all impressed when we stepped into the bar area. A large room that quickly filled with tourists shortly after we sat down, I was facing the wall with shelves holding all the bottles behind the bar. Then came my disappointment. The waiter told me there were no Heritage beers available. Damn, I was hoping to get the 2019 vintage. We all had Brugse Zots and I then got a Straffe Hendrik quad to share. We also ordered a platter that was likewise good. Other than the Heritage thing, we all enjoyed the place. |
72 /100 KARTUIZERINNENSTRAAT 6 A brewery not high on my list to want to visit, but hey, we were in Bruges. The family would have liked to sit on the patio overlooking a canal but no available seats. No matter, I thought the interior was nice. No beers I had to have, my sampling was the Blonden OS, better than expected. As was the time we spent here. |
82 /100 The Bottle Shop (Beer Store) WOLLESTRAAT 13 I visited here yesterday, my second time with the first being four years ago. Spacious, well lit and a large selection of mainstream Belgian style beers. A nice sales lady helped me locate a quadrupel I had not seen before so there was that success. |
76 /100 KARTUIZERINNENSTRAAT 6 Świetne miejsce z przepięknym tarasem przy kanale. Duża selekcja piw oraz mały sklep w którym można kupić piwo. |
92 /100 ’t Brugs Beertje (Bar) KEMELSTRAAT 5 Visited August 2023. Located in Brugge‘s old town in a small and narrow street. This is a classic old fashioned Belgian pub with wooden interior and many metal beer plates on the walls. Huge beer bottle list, like Kulminator huge. 5 taps. Reasonable prices, friendly service, almost no tourists, only beer people. They serve food as well, but obviously this is not a place where you would eat. Overall a great experience. Best place to visit. |
64 /100 ’t Monk (Bar) VLAMINGSTRAAT 37 Visited for the European Champions league final on 10th June 2023. Modern glass walled joint full of the younger set. Pool tables upstairs. Decent selection of beers both draft and bottled but not my sort of place really I'm too old and prefer traditional bars when in Bruges. |
72 /100 WALPLEIN 26 Funny that I have never actually been here before. Very central, touristic but in a good way. Very large outside terrace with outside taps and bar, lots of sitting space inside, some fermenters visible. Fastest service I have seen so far in Belgium, quick even by international standards. Plenty of dishes available at okay prices with two vegetarian options, friends had, cheese croquet, old cheese and sausage plates with no complaints. 3 unfiltered and unpasteurized versions of their beer available, blond, dubbel & tripel. Tried the dubbel & tripel, mediocre but don’t remember much of regular version. I heard rumours that bottled versions are brewed elsewhere and these are actually made at local brewery. Full range of brewery available including Heritage 2016 which was amazing but quite expensive at 28 euro. Still quick service, options for most people with beer (including non-alcoholic) and special location beers only but no clear vegan option make it worthwhile for most for a brief stop. |
44 /100 KARTUIZERINNENSTRAAT 6 Entrance through the giftshop. Tries to establish a traditional brown bar look but looks sad, cheap and beaten. Service is focused on getting as many tourist through as possible. Terrace did look amazing overlooking the canal but was sadly full. Shame since terrace is bet thing about this bar. Offers a flight of 6 beers but looks too expensive at 16 euro. 7 taps, one unfamiliar, John Martins products including their garbage IPA, Os beers which are available elsewhere and Bourgogne des Flanders (a beer I remember enjoying about 10 years ago) but on tap here tasted just like awful cheap flat Coca-Cola. So no drinkable beers basically and snacks available. Touristic in all the bad ways really, shame given historical building and potential. |
40 /100 2 be (Beer Store) WOLLESTRAAT 53 Glass display of beers looks fun, very screaming look otherwise, very central. Overall basically just a touristic gift shop with overpriced nonsense really. Not worthwhile. There is beer but it isn’t the exclusive focus or anything. |
54 /100 ’t Monk (Bar) VLAMINGSTRAAT 37 Sports bar with about 20 taps including two house beers, no idea who makes them. Pool tables upstairs, loads of televisions inside. Interior is just screaming with televisions, neon signs and flashy colors. First time that I noticed that Jupiler logo is not only anatomically correct but neon sign was even more so. There are probably a few ticks to be found nothing really worthwhile. Lots of industrial stuff with a Delirium logo, Delirium IPA on tap, waiter wearing a Delirium shirt. There is also Gouden Caralos, Halve Maan and Trappist beers. Okay prices, had an Orval here. Good place to play pool and watch sports in central Bruges with a trappiest but far too screaming and almost hilariously commercial for lots of beer. |
80 /100 WALPLEIN 26 (visited May 2023) I was a bit sceptical about the €16pp cost of the brewery tour, but it was absolutley worth it (tickets are also beer tokens for use at end of the tour). The guide led tour around the old brewery was 1st class, lots of history and things/displays to see, as well as a view across Bruges from the roof of the building (bizarrely can't see the Belfry [Belfort] as the spire of Onze-Lieve Church completely obscures it).
Advisory-the tour contains numerous steep & narrow sets of stairways so not accessible for everyone.
After tour beers in the busy but not packed bar were "Straffe Hendrick Triple" & "Brugse Zot Dubbell" |
62 /100 Delaney’s (Restaurant) BURG 8 A big old Irish pub in an old atmospheric building. Around 10 taps on offer. Had a Waterloo Recolte Blanche & a Barcardi/coke totaling €17 so not the cheapest, but that's an Irish pub in a tourist town for you! A safe bet if in doubt. |
78 /100 Bruges Bier Museum (Bar) BREIDELSTRAAT 3 (Visited May 2023) Didn't actually do the museum; just headed straight to the huge tap room!
Pay your €10 at the bar choose your first 2 (25cl) beers from the 16 on tap, and take them with your 2 solid brass beer tokens to a table by the window overlooking the main city square.
I tried the Palm Dobbel & Steenbrugge Dubbel Bruine, whilst the wife (not much for beer) tried and loved both the fruitbeers; Kriek Boon & Rodenback FruitAge |
60 /100 KARTUIZERINNENSTRAAT 6 Visited during a mid-afternoon in early May 2023. Didn't do 'the tour' just had the beer taster flight (€17.50 for 6 12cl tasters, so quite expensive for 0.72 of a litre) but then it is a tourist trap, where isn't in Brugge? It was packed out by the canal & inside, although the courtyard had plenty of free tables.
The beers were a bit of a let down though considering the cost. The best was the flagship brew "Bourgogne des Flandres" followed by decent if standard Belgian brown "Bruinen Os". "Triplen Os" & "Blonden Os" were good if just standard Belgian fayre. "Martins Pale Ale" was a little light and the "Brewers Playground" was tasteless. |
76 /100 The Bottle Shop (Beer Store) WOLLESTRAAT 13 Largest bottle shop I've ever been in, has a staggeringly large selection available. Prices varied widely from about €3 to €30+ per bottle. I got 3 localish stouts for under €12 in total for the 3, so it needn't be an overly expensive buy. One was the excellent "Stout-ish" by L'Arogante Brewery. Take a browse you'll find something there to try out. |
82 /100 @ The Pub (Bar) 4 HALLESTRAAT (Visited May 2023) Absolutely nothing has changed since the review below by 'ManVsBeer' from 8 1/2 years ago! That said why would it? Fabulous selection of quality bottled Belgian Beers + half dozen or so taps. Fairly quiet evening when we we there but comfortable, cosy & welcoming plus the Viven Smoked Porter was fabulous. |
86 /100 De Kelk (Bar) LANGESTRAAT 69 Hadn't intended to go in this bar but it was virtually the only place open on a Wednesday night in Langestraat! Glad I did though, vast selection of draft & bottled beers available (choose from the menu). Had the excellent Black Swan Stout.
Atmosphere is dark, brooding and straight from the set of a 1940's film noir. Oh and there's a playful dog scurry up and down chasing toys! |
Agradable visita.
Next one please! |
68 /100 2 be (Beer Store) WOLLESTRAAT 53 Visited September 2022.
70 /100 WALPLEIN 26 Visited September 2022.
Crowded place with a lot of tourists. Service was good, just a couple of beers. Did not visit the brewery museum.
Next one please! |
82 /100 Café Cambrinus (Bar) PHILIPSTOCKSTRAAT 7 Stopped on a mid week evening after not being able to eat at the big brother location. Had the local triple - Henrik- and ordered a sour that had just been replaced by a cherry kriek- nice. Place emptied out early and enjoyed chatting with the bartender- great guy and good beer stop. |
