44 /100 Angel Inn, Burford (Bar) 14 WITNEY STREET Country Inn just off the main road through Burford. There is a small bar to the front all laid up for diners though, we did just manage to get beers, which are all from Hook Norton Brewery, just 3 on during our visit. Not the liveliest of places. |
46 /100 Golden Pheasant (Bar) 91 HIGH STREET Large, rambling Inn half way up the main drag through Burford. It is part of the Greene King chain of pubs so while there are 5 hand pumps the majority are from that brewery with a local guest beer. Feels like a library inside, slightly better on the seating out the front taking in the late sunshine. |
48 /100 Mermaid, Burford (Bar) 78 HIGH STREET Roughly half way through the town on the main road, opposite the Golden Pheasant. This is a tourist forward pub serving food. Three hand pulls with a couple of guests, one local. Not the friendliest of places but perhaps worth a look for visitors. |
64 /100 Royal Oak, Burford (Bar) 26 WITNEY STREET Off the main drag through Burford, Whitney Street feels much quieter and more in keeping with the Cotswolds and this is basically the locals pub, despite it having rooms to let. Very friendly and chatty, there is a buzz to it. Just the 3 hand pulls though, all with Wadsworth beers on and a few keg lines with one from Tiny Rebel. The food is excellent and although quite pricey it's less than other places in Burford. In my opinion the best pub in Burford if not that exciting on the beer front. |
64 /100 Angel Inn, Burford (Bar) 14 WITNEY STREET Pequeño pub, acogedor, varias cervezas de cask. |
64 /100 Highway Inn (Bar) 117 HIGH STREET Nice pub in central Burford. Two cask options, though only one on my visit (excellent condition Hooky Bitter for those interested). Also two local lager options from Cotswolds Brewing. Food was excellent. Clearly more gastropub than drinker's hideout, but very pleasant. |
