60 /100 Le Comptoir de Plan-Praz (Restaurant) TELECABINE DE BREVENT it's at the top of the first telecabine up to La Brevent, at Plan-Praz; they have a few beers which you can enjoy with a breathtaking view to Mont Blanc |
64 /100 Bar Plan de l'Aiguille (Bar) PLAN DE L AIGUILLE actually, this place is on the top of the first Telepherique in Chamonix at 2317 m above sea level, but it's not possible to record any exact address there; they have a decent sortiment of Brasserie du Mont Blanc beers and it's extreme to drink a beer at 2300 above sea level with Aiguille du Midi and Mt Blanc in the background :) |
52 /100 Chez Paolo (Restaurant) 73 AVENUE RAVANEL LE ROUGE an Italian-style restaurant with perfect Lasagne and pizzas; they have Birra Moretti on tap, 5 beers from Brasserie du Mont Blanc and Perroni lager in bottle |
62 /100 102 RUE MUMMERY a bar of the hotel with 1 beer on tap (Crystal IPA) and a few bottles - all of them from Brasserie du Mont-Blanc; great place to drink a beer in the terrace in sunset with Mont Blanc in the background |
50 /100 Le Petit Casino de Chamonix (Grocery Store) 50 RUE DU DOCTEUR PACCARD another Casino shop in Chamonix with similar selection to the other one |
52 /100 Casino Shop Chamonix Mont-Blanc (Grocery Store) 199 RUE DU DOCTEUR PACCARD a supermarket with quite a good selection of local and international beers |
50 /100 Super U Chamonix Vallot (Grocery Store) 117 RUE JOSEPH VALLOT a supermarket with quite good selection of local, as well as international beers |
70 /100 350, ROUTE BOUCHET a brewpub with great ambiance and their sortiment on tap; unfortunately they don't have any of them in bottle or can to take away |
86 /100 73 AVENUE RAVANEL LE ROUGE 12 beers on tap (10 of them are their own ones plus 2 guest beers) and a great selection of bottles and cans (several Northern Monks, but some US ones and even Orval); definitely worth visition |
84 /100 Beer O'Clock Chamonix (Bar) 74 AVENUE RAVANEL LE ROUGE 12 beers on tap from various styles and quite a lot of bottles/cans; worth visiting |
70 /100 Cha Cha Cha (Beer Store) 134 AVENUE RAVANEL LE ROUGE A wine-spirit shop with decent selection of local craf, as well as international beers; worth visiting |
94 /100 Bighorn Bistro & Bakery (Restaurant) 77 PLACE EDMOND DESAILLOUD Great restaurant serving craft beer, 10 taps,25 bottles. All food home made and very friendly waitstaff. Service bilingual |
78 /100 73 AVENUE RAVANEL LE ROUGE Small, cozy taproom for Big Mountain Brewing Co. that's located a bit further down the valley. Located in the pedestrian area quite central in Chamonix, just around the corner from the train stop "Chamonix Aiguille du Midi". Wooden interior in fitting style, a bit the Nordic/alpine style. Very attentive and friendly staff and pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. 12 taps, with their own brew on 11 of them at the time of our visit. Flights are available for €10. Some snacks are available too. Decent beers and definitely a place worth checking out (also it's just across the street from Beer o'clock) |
74 /100 Beer O'Clock Chamonix (Bar) 74 AVENUE RAVANEL LE ROUGE Just across the street from Big Mountain bar. Interior is similar style, a bit Nordic feel with lots of pale wood and suitable for the location somehow. Friendly and helpful staff that explains and demonstrate how the system works (as described in the previous review). Great for tasting several if you're up for that or at least try before you fill the glass. Seemed to have a decent bottle selection to, but the taps managed to keep me busy for the time of our visit. |
60 /100 350, ROUTE BOUCHET Brewpub just a short walk from the centre of Chamonix. Seven of their own brews on tap and flight available with either 5 or 7 different. Burgers, ribs and similar on the food menu. Popular place, so reservation might not be a bad idea. Thee beers we're quite okay and the burger was tasty. Worth checking out. |
78 /100 Beer O'Clock Chamonix (Bar) 74 AVENUE RAVANEL LE ROUGE Part of a seemingly fast-growing chain of 'pour-your-own' beer bars that are springing up around France, and which I admit I was a little sceptical of before venturing in. In fact, during our first visit I chose a couple of bottles from the fridge instead, which has a good selection of modern French craft, plus some UK, Belgian, Scandinavian, US, Spanish and German options. Of course, I'm in France so I choose a couple of French bottles from Mont Saleve and La Debauche and ignore the rest. The following day we return and the place is buzzing with snowboarders pouring beers and generally loving the concept. Something I didn't notice before was the fact they serve food such as pizza and meat / cheese boards, all looked decent. I chose to pour my beer this time. You get a card which is free, top it with however much you want at the bar, then head to a tap with a screen displaying the beer you want, then pour and watch your card value decrease petrol-pump style. The great thing is you can pour as much or as little as you like, effectively allowing you to take up to 10 tasters without buying a full 25cl or 50cl pour. Beer selection is surprisingly good - I got a Dry & Bitter IPA, Chimay Blue, a local amber, a local wit, czech lager plus a Magic Rock coffee porter while my partner got a Bacchus kriek and Dujardin cidre all for the 15 euros we put on the card. Add to this some nice scandi-style seating / reindeer skin covers and it is easily my favourite bar in Chamonix. |
70 /100 Cha Cha Cha (Beer Store) 134 AVENUE RAVANEL LE ROUGE Primarily a high-end wine store with a small bar and a few seats to drink in, this place also stocks an admirable selection of around 50 different craft beers, mostly French but also some from other European countries and the US. All are lined precariously close to the edge of a glass shelf, with no lip and a hard floor underneath, so be careful when plucking some off to inspect. Definitely the best selection in Chamonix if you happen to be sick of Brasserie du Mont Blanc's offerings everywhere you look. It's worth noting there is also a nice deli further up the street called 'Le Refuge Payot' with some local Marmotte beers not featured here plus some Savoire and Italian cider, though not enough of a selection to really warrant an entry. |
52 /100 350, ROUTE BOUCHET Popular brewpub just outside Chamonix centre also serving burgers / wings etc. 7 beers on draft with FVs lined up behind the bar. I got a flight of 5 for about €10. Beer quality is generally pretty good with a variety of styles (hefeweizen, bock, IPAs) though the descriptions on the beer list, and that given by the serving staff may by misleading - the spicy Christmas porter is more like a clean German dunkel, and Belgian blanche more a straight-up hefe. That said, the beers decent. My only complaint is the service from clearly inexperienced, disorganised young staff. 20 min wait for our drinks. After 40 mins we find our fries order wasnt put through. I order another beer that didnt turn up but we were charged for. In the meantime wrong orders around us we being sent back. One experienced manager would ensure none of this would happen, but hey. Apart from that this is a nice place, if a little “youth hostel-y” in general feel |
74 /100 350, ROUTE BOUCHET Our favourite bar in Chamonix. Nice to try a few house beers on tap. Worth a look. |
70 /100 350, ROUTE BOUCHET wooden interior, comfortable and inviting. 4-5 drafts including a seasonal. no bottles to go but they are available at a few food stores in chamonix. |
