A few beers on tap and cask, large fridge section with canned and bottled beers on the right hand side when entering the main room. | 76 /100 Signal Box Inn (Bar) LAKESIDE STATION, KINGS ROAD “Visited for the first time in years on 22nd April 2022. Claims to be the smallest pub on the Planet and it may well be. Luckily it has a huge patio area for it's guests. It's a proper 'Free House' so offers what ever it wants too. I got three new rates on my last visitation, which is why I've added it to the database. 8 Foot X 8 Foot in floor space, four hand-pulls, keg lines and cider in boxes. Friendly and fun place, part of the Cleethorpes Light Railway set up. Only down side is the plastic glasses they have to use.“ |
| 60 /100 No.1 Pub (Bar) RAILWAY STATION, “Visible from the train station but you have to leave it and enter from the car park side. A bit weird. Quite busy. No wifi I think. A couple of handpumps, reasonably priced. The no 2 has a better selection and free wifi so my suggestion is the no 2.“ |

| 52 /100 17 HIGHCLIFF ROAD “Visited 5/5/2018 on a glorious sunny day, after a walk along the prom with the wife and our black lab. Looks a decent place from outside, kind of mock Tudor look to the outside. Very close to sea front but have to cross a very busy road to get to it. Nice view of the pub and brewery alongside before you cross. On arrival, the dog wasn't welcome (could have brought the wife in but someone had to hold the dog while I checked out the beers). Purpose of visit was to get a brewery tick and was in luck as one of the 3 casks was Willy's Original (doubt I'd have stayed if not as it really didn't appeal otherwise). So grabbed a pint (a bargain at £2.48 but maybe you need to pay more to get friendly service?) to share with the wife in a small corner of the small outside covered terrace area and then we were quickly on our way - mission accomplished. And would suggest unless, like me, you want the brewery tick, it's not especially a place to hunt out.“ |
| 84 /100 Message in a Bottle (Beer Store) 91-97 CAMBRIDGE ST, “Visited Saturday 5/5/2018 during a sunny (!) bank holiday weekend so Cleethorpes was heaving with visitors. Not easy to find parking close by but second loop around the town found a 1 hour spot just opposite MIAB. Warmly welcomed on arrival, being a Saturday they had their pop up bar open at the entrance with a few cask ales (Axeholme new beer Grim's Bitter was pretty good) with seating along the shop front. Inside the shop was a good vaierty of local, national and international beers, maybe 200 in total. Seems to be transitioning a bit from local ales to a wider selection of craft from further afield. But for this visit, my focus was local beers, and came away with a full box for myself (and some for the Danes too). And with that our hour was up and we had to move on. Definitely a place I could have spent a lot longer at. Incidentally the owner helped me carry the beers to the car and was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about RateBeer which makes a change!“ |
| 60 /100 No.1 Pub (Bar) RAILWAY STATION, “Visited on 27th Jan 2018 after watching Grimsby Town lose again. Larger 'waiting room' than No.2, on three levels. You enter at the top, walk down a couple of steps to the main bar area, with a pool table to the right, small lounge to the rear and right of the actual bar. Batemans seem to have a presence, two of their beers in cask form, plus a Dark Star 'Equinox'. Usual keg fonts, didn't see any bottles. The place is pretty rough to be honest, with football screens and loud music bellowing from cheap speakers that distort the music. Came here years ago to watch an England game after a Grimsby game, was full of idiots that evening, not so bad this time around. Beers kept in a decent condition, got a new Batemans tick and the staff are fine. Just don't dress up if you go for a pint here.“ |

Now has a pop-up bar every weekend, one cask beer (Axholme Cleethorpes Pale Ale on my trip) and a selection of bottles in a chiller. Still the best 'diverse choice' of beers in North East Lincolnshire. original review here; visited on 13th Feb 2016. Had a good chat with the owner, he likes beer and has some good ideas and plans for this new place. Current selection is mostly local and semi-local with a few beers from further afield and overseas. Liked the vibe and will be visiting again whenever I go to Grimsby Town home games as it is only three miles from the ground (owner is a Town fan).“ |

| 70 /100 Nottingham House (Bar) 7 SEAVIEW ST, “Regular haunt of mine when in Cleethorpes. Traditional, no frills drinking mans boozer, always clean and tidy. Central bar splits the three rooms, smaller lounge to the rear, public bar at the front on the left when entering, slightly posher room to the right. Cask ales looked after and fresh, loyal local following and friendly bunch too. Good Indian restaurant next door. Latest visit on Saturday evening 27th Jan 2018, the place was heaving and loud (with voices), good friendly atmosphere.“ |
| 72 /100 26-28 HIGH ST, “Visited on Saturday 23rd Jan 2016. 5 mins or so from the station, this is a huge Spoons conversion. Pretty new so quite smart inside with a fire centre piece thing that looked good. Beer range featured plenty of local beers plus the usuals. Had a couple of local beers in fridge too.
Service was good despite it being busy. Prices were £2.09 a pint which is cheap. 50p off voucher made it even better..
Probably the best range of beer in town and low prices. Worthy of a look.

| 66 /100 Nottingham House (Bar) 7 SEAVIEW ST, “Visited on Saturday 23rd Jan 2016. A couple of minutes from Willy’s this is located at the highest point in town. 2 roomed tradtional boozer. Camra discount available. Service was pretty swift which was useful as was in a rush.
Beer range was pretty uninspiring featuring national beers, nothing too local. Quality was good.

| 68 /100 17 HIGHCLIFF ROAD “Visited on Saturday 23rd Jan 2016. It’s a little trek from the station but offered nice views of the estuary. Modern place, 3 handpulls with the Original bitter on tap. The beer was Ok, nothing too spectacular. Food is offered a really competitive prices and looked good.
It’s worth the walk out and it’s a nice stroll along the prom to get there.“ |

Situated on the concourse of the station this is an L-shaped bar. 6 Hand pulled beer from a few national brewers and smaller regionals. Range was OK but not super inspiring. Service was good, place was a little busier than No1 with Grimsby fans (No Black Haddock though!). Handy place for a pint but nothing special.“ |

Situated alongside Platform 2 at Cleethorpes, but with no direct access from the platform this is quite a large venue, 2 rooms (didn’t venture beyond the first one), a few people in who’d had a few already. Reasonable range of beer, quality OK, service decent and prices OK. Not a great range. The No.2 place is better but if you don’t want to venture far than it’s a tick.“ |

| 26 /100 17 HIGHCLIFF ROAD “A brewpub without it’s own beer. Not a promising start. Following that disappointment I was short-changed by the tubby camp chap behind the bar who initially denied it, then refunded me with a grovelling apology. 10 mins too late.
Grim laminated menu. It scores a redeeming 6 for selection because there were 3 (uninteresting) but reasonably well conditioned guests on handpull- all new to me. Some Magritte on the walls. Probably not originals. Not in the top 3 beer venues in Cleethorpes. Won’t be rushing back.“ |
| 78 /100 17 HIGHCLIFF ROAD “On the seafront, overlooking the Humber Estuary. If you are there on a sunny day and unlucky, you can see Yorkshire.
Modern looking, with a large glass window facing the beach, the brewing equipment can be seen from the side road or when visiting the toilets towards the back of the downstairs bar area.
Good selection of beers, always Bateman’s XB and two of their own beers, plus at least one, normally two guest cask beers. Big on bottles (of lager) and lager taps too. Quality of the beers is always spot on. Staff always pleasant, sometimes rushed at busy eating periods. Not a problem though, you get served when it’s your turn.
Changes atmosphere, during the day it is a seaside cafe type bar, in the evening the local young upwardly mobile come out to play and the music gets ramped up. Upstairs opens as well.
I use this bar every time I go to Grimsby Town Football Club home games. It is miles from the ground but it is worth the trip, trust me.
