“Aways worth a visit...“

“Been here a few times over the years, once to a beer festival and once when judging CAMRA Club of The West Midlands, other times just having a pint. Their own beers are fine, don't see them very often, usually at least one on in here though, as you'd expect. Pleasant place, normally quiet in the main bar room and the other little areas within the fairly large building. It's a relaxed atmosphere, more reading a paper or book than loud conversation or music blaring.“

“Visited on a wet and windy Saturday afternoon, 29th Feb 2020, wife the wife, son and Bertie our dog. It's a smart, modern place in two distinct rooms, two more upstairs where is a glass fronted fridge full of interesting bottles and cans. These supplement the keg and cask lines on the ground floor. Friendly staff and locals, our mini-train-crawl to Codsall now has three ports of call.“

“Visited on 27th December 2019. Micropub in a converted shop. 2 rooms downstairs, lots of space but not much seating, there are rooms upstairs but didn't venture that far. 5 handpulls and 4 keg taps. ABK supply 4 German beers, cask stuff was decent local beers well kept. Only bar snacks such as crisps available. Really nice looking place, beer range good. Prices decent. Staff were friendly. Throw in an AFC Telford Utd legend and all was good. Solid micropub.“

“Visited on 10th Dec 2018 with the wife, friends and two dogs. A typical Joule's refurbishment (meaning lots of money spent and plenty of wood and tiles on the walls), and as always nicely done. Large central bar serves all the various open plan connecting alcoves/areas. Nine cask ales on offer with third of a pint paddles available (3 beers of your choice). The food and beers were all in good order and at sensible prices. We were all impressed, even the dogs got brought a bowl of water and some biscuits.“

“This review is from my visit on 17th Nov 2018. Lovely pub in the railway buildings, right on the platform. Proper fire in the carpeted lounge, tiled conservatory and bar area, plus a raised outside patio. Two guest cask ales with one usually the Holdens 'seasonal', three regular Holdens beers always on. Good value 'pub food' and a warm welcome from the staff and customers. Can't believe I have never reviewed this place before (I drink in here about 6 times a year, and have done for many years).“

“Nice pub right at Codsall Train Station. Just a flying visit but tried one of the Holdens beers on offer. They also had a few guest beers, that appeared to change. Nice traditional feel, and fairly busy with an after work crowd. Worth a visit if your in Codsall, but I wouldn’t go out my way.“

“Visited on 24th April 2016. Newly refurbished by Joule’s this pub is in the centre of the village. It’s had some money spent on the pub and an excellent job has been made. There a several rooms to relax in plus plenty of nooks and crannies and a large patio out front. 9 handpulls on the bar with 5 guests and 4 Joule’s beers. Guests were a good range from across the UK from micros and larger breweries. 6 keg taps with Green Dragon on one from Joules plus others so plenty to go at. Service a little poor as the staff were now but still friendly. Prices not bad. With the Station, the Firs and now the Crown in Codsall there’s a good range of beers for the locals and it’s a decent spot to stop.“

“Visited on Saturday 12th March 2016. It’s situated in Codsall Village, behind a row of shops and between the shops and a Co-Op supermarket. It’s a private members club but CAMRA cards are welcome. The club is the Wolverhampton branch club of the year. It’s a central bar with seating all around, TV was showing the rugger so was quite lively. We retired to the lounge and sat in the comfy chairs. 3 handpulls have a decent range of beer. Well kept. Also have Bank’s mild and bitter on electric cask dispense. Prices were decent. Service good. If you’re in Codsall then pop in. It’s a decent little spot.“

“Visited on Sunday 27th December 2015. Situated in the old station buildings on the Shrewsbury bound platform it’s quite handy for the train! There’s a large back room and conservatory, a beer festival or two a year and the bar area has plenty of seating. All decorated in GWR colours with railwayana on the walls it’s a nice place. Beers from Holdens plus two guests normally. Had the Master ale at 10% for a half only (More than enough!). Prices are good too. Service friendly. Often wins Wolverhampton CAMRA country pub of the year. Great little place and worth a stop off.“
