“Visited in August '23. Dunster is a nice place for a visit, this deli shop made it all the more worth the while. Loads of local beers, which make up most of the shop's space. Most of them traditional breweries, but also quite a bit of craft. Had a hard time restraining myself. Very friendly owner who loves to drink a good beer himself, and who had some really nice suggestions for local dark beers. Prices were decent I guess. Also bought some tasty local cheeses which I forgot to put in my bag, the lady behind the counter ran out of the shop to catch up and give us the cheese. Superb service :-). Great little shop.“

“Visited at lunchtime on 28th November 2022, with my wife, mother and Bertie the dog. Food was excellent and the beer quality top notch also. This is a lovely old hotel with many downstairs rooms tastefully presented in an charming olde worlde, rural sort of way. Three hand-pulls, one of which is a guest cider, the other two local beers, Otter and Exmoor being the brewery's on our visit. We all really enjoyed our stay and even though I didn't get a tick it was a great little find.“

“Not got much else to add to ManvsBeer's rating below. It's a modest deli with around 100 bottles taking up much of the right hand side of the store, some wine, mead and spirits with a large range of cider and about the same amount of real ale bottles. Some cider producers that I didn't see elsewhere in North Somerset, such as Secret Orchard. If visiting Dunster Castle you should probably call in here afterwards.“

“Small shop on the main street boasting over 100 local beers. Not sure if that is accurate but it has many highly local Somerset brews that are likely very hard to find elsewhere. A good place to get some locals for souvenirs. Prices aren’t bad, staff is friendly.“

“Reall beautiful old English interior with huge chairs and a warm fire, stately and elegant. Seems to be the place to have a drink after walking your dog. Has a rather small selection of local beers on tap. Would come here for the charming atmosphere but not to rack up the beer ratings.“

“A large historic brick and stone pub which the main road has to squeeze around at the top end of the village as it heads towards Minehead. The building has been added to as it’s a hotel and restaurant now as well, but it’s not lost any of its ambiance for it. It’s an old coaching inn with a few courtyards in its centre, where you can eat or drink if you don’t want to sit in the more attractive rear garden with views of the castle. Even if the weather is good the ambiance around the bar with its expensive soft furnishings, dark wooden fixtures and tables over three room, with the small central bar serving two of these, is a place you’ll want to frequent and the ambiance is fine - but probably best experienced when the majority of tourists have gone home as it can get busy in the daytime. There’s four cask pumps at the bar, three with ales, one with cider, all from the South West, with some bottled choices from Dunster’s tiny microbrewer Draycott also available. It’s not the greatest of choices, but the ambiance of drinking here makes it a worthwhile stop. The food is good too.“

“Half way up the high street, north of the beautiful castle many tourists flock to this well kept historic village for. The deli is a small shop with its service counter at the doorway on the left, with a mix of mainly beers and a few ciders currently on shelves in the middle of the right hand wall. It’s all West Country local in selection, namely from Somerset and Devon with Cotleigh, Hunters, Madrigal, Quantac, Branscombe Vale and the villages own Draycott well represented with their bottles.“

“Quite a large inn for the village, but comfortable non the less. Placed centrally in the extremely characterful village that is Dunster it has local beers on the hand pulls. There is a restaurant area to the right when you walk in and drinking area to the left. Old timbers and panels give a cosy feeling, the pub takes dogs in handily. There is additional outside seating to the front to watch the tourists rushing by.“
