“We visited here Sunday 12th July 2020, we'd been on a long cycle ride from Attenkirchen to Abensberg and back. We never quite made Abensberg instead got as far as Siegenburg before heading here on our return journey. This is a hugely popular place, it's in the country probably about 8-10km north of Mainburg, really popular with cyclists, walkers and very, very popular with the locals. We got chatting to a couple of fellow cyclists who were from northern Bavaria originally but now lived in/near Mainburg, they cycle to Biergartens a lot but said this is amongst the most traditionally Bavarian example of a Biergarten that you will find, tourists are at a minimum this is proper original. It was extremely popular, very local feel, big with huge trees providing plenty of shade. There was a bandstand with traditional music, it was clearly a place where a lot of folk meet up and there were even reserved tables for locals. Pricing was good, the key beers all appeared to be from Hofbräu Freising, according to the website they also sell a selection of craft beer, I never realised until after I had ordered. There were a few areas where you could get food, a Pretzel area, smoked fish area, and then main area for food. We really liked it here, you park your bike across the road with the literally hundreds of other cycles and then cross to here. This place will be a regular if cycling close by.“

“The only brewery in Bavaria that uses only their own raw materials to brew beer. They have a barley farm on site as well as their own maltings, their own water well and their own hop garden next to the brewery. Situated in the beautiful Hallertau hills in the middle of hop gardens this seems like the ideal brewery from my dreams. Historic houses and farm buildings combined with some large modern buildings. At their office you can buy the full range of their beers as well as souvenirs. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Although deep in the country it is only a few minutes drive from the motorway A93 Munich Regensburg, exit Siegenburg/Elsendorf.“
