72 /100 FRITWELL ROAD, Popped in on trip up the M40 as just off the motorway. It was night and dark so approached up a dark lane was fun. Couldn't see much of the beer garden either. It was a Sunday Evening, and populated by a few locals. The man behind the bar was friendly, and sorted me out a couple of the own brews. Worth a visit for the breweries own beer. |
80 /100 FRITWELL ROAD, Visited here on many occasions but today on a cycle ride from Merton to Fewcott, Souldern, Caulcott and then back to Merton approx 30 miles (and don’t I know it) Really lovely place, very down to earth, traditional rural pub. Good beers on offer with Salopian, Adkins, WharfeBank and another I forget the name of, but the empties outside suggest that the likes of Blue Monkey and others find there way here also. All beers in good nick, landlord (Paul) very friendly and chatty. Must get here more often, wonderful pub garden, the sort of pub you would happily have as your local. |
80 /100 FRITWELL ROAD, A proper village pub with a lively social scene. The beer is what this place is about, rare brews from around the country all in very good condition. Don’t expect food or a cosy fireplace atmosphere, this is a real pub in a thriving community.
Voted North Oxon Pub of the Year for 2004. |
