“Cool place built with shipping containers. A party going on while there so didn't get a full range of the place but neat. The service was definitely over it but can't blame them too much. Beer was decent and the fries were pretty killer for a snack item.“

“This was our last brewery during our 2022 trip. We visited on 28.7.2022 on the way to Dulles airport. Small brew pub close to Idiom. Unbelievable how many breweries are in Frederick. Brewhouse visible through a few windows and a small outside patio. 14 beers on tap. We had a West Coast and a Hazy IPA (Surefire) both were excellent.“

“Located in an old factory of some sort alongside one of the main thoroughfares into/out of town. Most of the old building is consumed by a homebrew shop, it appears. Small bar area with about 8 choices on tap. I've had some of theirs before in bottles. Pretty standard lineup. Beers were good. Nice lawn out front with live music was a pleasant setting on a cool day. Worth a visit. Brewery #954.“

“Very well-appointed space inside a classical, brick-front industrial space along the scenic canal. Nice outdoor seating if the weather permits. Excellent selection of beers, about 1/2 in great, classic Belgian styles, plus a few of the 'normal' brewpub variety. Light snacks available. Lots of different size pours to choose from too, along with a fridge full of bottles to take home ... even make your own 6-pack. Friendly staff. Beers were all great. Highly recommended. Brewery #953.“

“Small place right in the downtown a little north of the canal. Beer here is just OK, which doesn't really cut it considering the stiff competition offered by places like Midnight Run, Idiom and Steinhardt, not to mention Flying Dog of course. They do flights, and service is friendly enough. Industrial kind of feel with a few couches in the front and stools and benches elsewhere.“

“Small place next to Oscar's West and a few blocks from Rockwell. The place here is a little underwhelming, just kind of your typically strip mall small brewery with a few tables. But the beer is really great - perhaps nearly the best if not the best in the above average market that is Frederick. They do everything well here, from dark beers to IPAs. Even their fruit fluff is well done. Friendly service.“

“Cool local bar right next to Midnight Run brewery. These guys have a lot of interesting taps in an old cool, darkish kind of bar setting with wooden fittings. Unfortunately they only do one set flight and won't deviate from that at all, even on an unbusy afternoon. In short, good if you're spending some time in Frederick or a local, but not really worth going here to tick beers. I had a soup as well which was decent.“

“Cool place with live music and great patio. Beer is above average, though not quite as great as the nearby Midnight Run in quality. Flights available. This place was very lively on a Saturday afternoon. Kid-friendly. Just a couple of blocks from Rockwell and Oscar's Alehouse. Friendly service even though it was busy.“

“Large place right in the brewery alley of Frederick. A block from Idiom and Steinhardt and next to Smoketown. Place has a number of outdoor seats along a big parking lot and some inside. Open, airy place that makes an industrial strip mall type place seem much cooler than it should. Fake grass helps, and nice picnic chairs. They had about 10 beers on tap when I was in and a couple of seltzers if you're into that kind of thing. Everything available in flights of three or even just individual 4oz pours, though the latter are marked up a little. Beers are a mix of IPAs and a few farmhouse saisons and such when I was there. Beer was mostly pretty good, above average. They seem pretty large, so hopefully we'll start seeing their cans out in DC area more often. Worth a stop over. Also, they had a sandwich food truck focused on slow-cooked meats that was positively amazing. Had a Cuban type sandwich but with chimichurri and spicy eggplant that was amazing. Not sure if that truck is always around.“

“Great, old school brick place right along the canal in Frederick. Atmospheric and airy. Nice big patio right along the walkway on the canal. They have a huge list of about 15-20 beers or so, available in flights or individual 4oz pours as well as the usual pints etc. Their list is pretty varied. They have a few stouts and IPAs but definitely a large focus on Belgian beers, with most of the abbey styles. Now their real gems here are the Flanders reds they do. Kriek is wonderful, and the raspberry and apricot versions are great as well. Highly recommend this place, and it's right next to the more hipster haze-oriented Idiom and a block away from Attaboy and Smoketown. Service was super friendly too. Great to have a change from trendy-focused brewpubs of our day.“

“We came here on 2.10.2019. Located in the center of Frederick next to a small river in a very nice looking red brick house. Parking available on the other side of the road. Liked the outside patio a lot. Sitting next to the water was very enjoyable. Inside they have a bar in front of the brewhouse, good merchandising and overall well organized and decorated. Also liked the authentic Mexican food served by the truck outside. The 2 beers we had: the sour IPA and the hazy IPA were both quite good, also considering they have opened just in 2018. In total they had around 10 beers on tap. Areas for improvement: the service could be more friendly and they had some problems with the tapping. Overall absolut recommendable.“

“Finally found an opportunity to visit Flying Dog. Even though they've been gobbled up by AB, I've always been a big fan of Flying Dog brews and have wanted to visit this facility since it was the old Wild Goose Brewery. I pass thru the area relatively frequently, but their taproom hours are oddly limited. Finally got the chance on a Thursday evening. Place was pretty packed inside, the outside patio pretty full, too. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, letting us walk our dogs thru the taproom to get out to the patio. They had the entire, vast area of Flying Dog brews available on tap, with a couple on nitro. Surprisingly, though, there weren't very many I hadn't seen before, nothing unique to the taproom. Had a couple new ones, both lived up to expectations. LOVE their beer (mostly). Ambiance limited by their industrial location, but still pretty nice. Would love to go back soon. Brewery #887.“

“Dropped in mid-afternoon on a Wednesday. There were a few people about, the weather was nice so their small little side patio was partly occupied, but we were able to find a table with our dogs, welcomed outside with a bowl of water from the friendly staff. The taplist was somewhat limited. We had three different beers, two from draft, one from a can. All were good to very good. Hard to stand out in the growingly crowded industry of craft beer, but I'd stop back in when in the area. Brewery #885.“

“Came here on 17.9.2019 after visiting Rockwell brewery which is next door. Small shop, more beer than wine. I really liked their election, not mainstream. Extremely nice service explaining the concept of the shop. They have a speed freezer inside. I purchased Racer 5 Bear Republic and an Imperial Pumpkin from Weyerbacher. Prices were reasonable.“

“Came here on 17.9.2019. Located a bit outside of Frederick downtown in an industrial area. Brewhouse to the left, bar to the right and a patio in front. “Very well set up. Plenty of parking at this brewery set inside an industrial park. Big bar, quite a few tables, and a big patio with tables, cot hole and food truck. 20 beers on tap with two seasonal being relished today. Big windows and plenty of lighting here in the building. Very cool place. Cheers!“

“Not to far off the interstate. This place is in a strip mall, so plenty of free parking right in front of this place. Ambiance is just average pick-up store. You can get help if needed. You can get singles of anything as long as the package is open, big plus for me. The meads are with the wines. Descent selection of US beers especally cans, pretty good selection on imports. Pricing is reasonable. I have been several times and plan to come back when I can.“

“You do feel like this might be a murder house when you see it from the outside, but inside is a lovely (tiny) seating/tasting area. Service was excellent. Selection was about a dozen taps/cans/bottles. Their beer ranges from very-odd-meh to pretty good, usually with one standout that I really like. Value is excellent. Great stop if you're doing a Frederick beer crawl.“

“The selection is very good here - lots of Maryland, Penn and VA brews plus many from other areas. The really nice thing is you can buy singles of everything the have. Just pull one out of a 4 or 6 pack and be on you way. I didn’t find any rarerites and some of the IPAs were a few months old. Still worth a stop, especially if you are on RT 15, as this this place is just a couple minutes off the North Frederick exit.“

“Located in the outskirts of the city, this venue caters for a beer-conscious clientel. Modern and no-nonse interior, ditto beer. Small flights of three offered, but they are all above average and testify to the brewer's ability and will to experiment. Limited selection but a good one. Reasonable prices, incl. the merchandise on offer, which is of simple style but reasonable aesthetic quality. Very friendly staff. Would like to be back again.“

“Located on the outskirts of town, the brewery welcomes beer-hungry visitors from all over the state and beyond. A small merchandise shop (they were in the process of moving when I visited) sells reasonably priced merchandise, just before you embark on a brewery tour with a very relaxed and knowledgeable guide. There is a tap room, too, and it offers some regular brewes alongside those that can only be appreciated on location. There is a food truck outside that serves great local crabs. Reasonable prices. Great stuff. Would be back anytime.“

“Located off the historic city centre, this venue is a cozy refuge for everyone in the area who appreciates good beer and a relaxed atmosphere. Cozy, homey interior with a long bar. The staff is knowledgeable and eager to speak about the beers on tap, and these include both lical goodies and othe East coast 100's, like Captain Lawrence Cuvee de Castleton, as well as good US brews, from e.g. Victory. Popular prices. Flights of 4 or 6 gladly served for reasonable money. Definitely the best bar in town.“

“Located in the historic centre of Frederick, this venue features a restaurant and a taphouse - I have only visited the latter. It is spacious but not huge and the interior is cozy, like "old style" English pubs. The selection is definitely satisfactory, featuring local and other American macros and micros, most of good quality (Flying Dog, Southern Tier, Epic, etc.). The staff are polite but busy, but, fair enough, the place is popular and I went there on a Saturday night. Reasonable prices. Would like to be back again.“

ambiance: Small place, looks like a former Taco Bell or something. Small inside seating area, small bar. Lots of parking. Everything is fun and well-decorated. Are they possibly brewing on site? That would be a miracle of modern engineering. service: Nice and easy, low key and laid back, friendly and just attentive enough. selection: Ten or a dozen of their own stuff. All of their beers were at least decent, most were excellent. food: N/A--bags of chips. value: Just great. Not expensive at all. overall: Fun, fun place. Samplers served in a cigar box--that’s cool. Definitely worth a stop. They are brewing some good, fun beers here.“

ambiance: typical modern-industrial brewery; garage doors, metal accents, etc. Bright and clean, which was nice. Lots of board games to play with. Sampler servers are metal baskets that are bulky and not geared to fit the glasses; these can be hazardous to navigate and use as far as spillages go--that’s really the only quibble, and it’s a small one. Outside area appeared fine, with picnic tables and (I think) cornhole. service: Seemed fine. Not bad, not outstanding. selection: Their local stuff, so about 10 taps I think. This visit, for me, none of the beers were really awesome, a few were good, a few were average, and a couple were downright BAD. food: N/A. value: Very reasonable. overall: It’s fine. I don’t quite get the huge rep they’ve built in the MD beer scene lately, as the beer didn’t seem that spectacular, but maybe it was just an off day. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re doing the Frederick beer thing.“

“We came here on 13.8.2017. Large brewery with a tap room, a beer garden and a food truck outside. All beers were decent. We had two Pale Ales, the Bloodline and an IPA. When we came they were running out of glassware and wanted to serve us the beers in plastic cubs....a bit strange. When we refused however, no problem and after 5 minutes we had the beers in the right glasses. Merchandising shop was a bit disappointing, but overall worthwhile a visit, although I expected more.“

“Fairly new place (opened March 2017) on the east side of historic Frederick. In a strip mall that was once part of a car dealership with the tap room in an old service bay. They still managed to create cozy, modern, industrial atmosphere. Evolving beer garden outside with tables and umbrellas. Limited food menu that they share with a restaurant just a few steps away. 10/11 on tap when we visited, all available as pints or tasters. Mostly hits with a near miss or two. Had an imperial brown ale that clocked in at 12.2% as well as a good rye ale but the hefe was flat. Service was fairly good; prices were not unreasonable. There is also a RBC in St Louis, but they are not related.“

“Another addition to the Frederick areas expansive brewery landscape. Fairly typical business park/warehouse setting, not far from the town center, with a large tasting room furnished with bar stools and hightops. Picnic tables outside can handle their overflow for now and there is a promise of updates in the near future. Top notch service keeps things flowing smoothly. 9-10 on tap, in addition to a cider and root beer. Focus was on saisons and IPAs. Some standouts were their double, red and Belgian style IPAs. Prices were reasonable (a flight of three for $5). Crowlers and growlers available, Easy to find just minutes off I-70.and plenty of parking.“

Visited in early September 2015.
A nice little place with a cozy atmosphere. A solid tap list, including a beer brewed by a small brewery in St. Louis - Civil Life. I visited Civil Life a few years ago and I don’t think they were brewing enough beer to distribute at all.
Exellent Food!
My wife and I met up with an old WVU college buddy and former next door neighbor here while en-route from Baltimore to Morgantown, WV.
Frederick/Baltimore/DC were my stomping grounds until moving to the tropics and warmer waters in 2007.“

“Located off the centre of Frederick, this spacious beer and wine store may not have a mind-blowing selection of US beers, but it certainly offers quality products. Good beer from all over US, real Lambic and very good German brews are just there for you to buy them. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices, as long as you go for four-packs. Single bottles of rare and top quality beer are rather pricey. Might be back again one day.“

“Nice little brewery in Frederick...good option to stop here first and juxtapose it with a later visit to Flying Dog. They had 5 beers here when I visited July 1st. They were all decent enough...and maybe two were better than the rest. I liked their beers...can’t say any really stuck out as amazing or anything. The two bartenders were very nice and helpful...which led to some enjoyable conversations. The place itself décor-wise is nice enough...but nothing really original or special...but certainly nothing negative either. I recommend a stop here if in the area...but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit.“

“Visited this past July 4th weekend on a Friday. Stopped at Monocacy first then finished here. Big, good looking, well appointed taproom at a major east coast commercial craft brewery. After watching a baseball tournament at Harvey Grove Stadium we stopped at the nearby Frisco’s Catering (a must visit for takeout...bring over to the outdoor picnic tables at Flying Dog!). So we arrived at 8:27...darn good thing...even with a 9PM close...last call was 8:30. So we ordered 3 flights and ate on the outdoor picnic tables till about 9:10. problem was (and they earned us)...they actually come over to your table and "relieve" you of your beer glasses (and any remaining beer) at promptly 9PM. Naturally, knowing this...we drank the beer fast and ate the food slow. So I can’t say I got the full beer tasting experience (and I’ve had most of their bottled beers over the years)...but I can definitely say their specialty beers ranged from good to great. We had a few of their year round beers but concentrated on their limited releases and brewhouse rarities...examples...Goseface Killer, Notorious B.A.G., Sawbones, and Ancho Lime. What I can say is that this brewery features some mighty good beers you can’t normally get elsewhere...as a result I highly recommend a visit here...and leave more time for Frisco’s catering and eating outside with your beers.“

“Newish place. Tasting room used to be a diner, small (1 1/2?) barrel system in the back, not visible. Brewer/owner pours the beers and is happy to chat about them as much as you like. Six beers, flight of all of them come in a cigar box, pretty neat. Good prices on both flights and full pours. All beers were solid, including two beginner sours. Education is going to be important in this area. Off to a good start, I hope they do well.“
