Dram! (Bar)
232-246 WOODLANDS RD
“Multi-roomed bar and restaurant with big screen sport, although the decor is towards a plusher styling so the televisions can look a little less ordinary amid their surroundings. Not a huge selection, some local keg options might suffice.“

58 /100 DRURY STREET
“Side street basement bar, all open plan, darker furnishings, atmosphere to match, all looking rather worn inside, although a few options of craft keg might entice you down here once in a while - mine was from Yorkshire where I'd just got the train from!“

Merchants (Bar)
134 WEST GEORGE STREET
“Corner pub, nice building, modern chain style design, not a great selection but I did find something new on its limited cask selection here. Fairly busy on the Wednesday evening I visited.“

54 /100 16-18 BLACKFRIARS STREET
“On the cusp of the Merchant City on its Eastern side, it's a strange but welcoming place, modern-traditional with a square service area with some keg on one side and three cask pumps along another. It's not a beer destination as such but might be interesting to some.“

56 /100 36 BELL ST, MERCHANT CITY
“Corner pub, modern-traditional in design, comfortable and friendly enough, however there's nothing particularly exciting about its selection, with a few craft keg options that may suffice, Scottish microbrewed regular ales, but nothing new in here for me.“

52 /100 11 SALTMARKET ST
“Lively corner pub opposite the Tolbooth on the eastern fringe of the city centre, for which it gets its name. Traditional urban, slightly old school boozer doing good business and likely to have some live music on in the evenings. The macro drinks selection is unlikely to keep you here long though. Look out for 'Bullsh*t Corner' at the rear standing area.“

“Strange little back street bar, small with more retro arcade machines than seats - still, it packs in enough craft keg to warrant a look-in, with some good choices when I visited. Maybe there's another room beyond the ground floor I never found.“

“Restaurant and bar, not sure what it tries to be most, but to be on the safe side I sat at its cramped bar in front of a bland selection of keg brews. Craft is available but not exciting choices. A possible cider might float your boat. Easily found a few minutes walk east of the Tennents Brewery on Duke Street.“

“Downstairs bar and I presume evening venue too, although I was the only customer shortly after it opened at midday and I think there was another room beyond the front bar style venue. Here, its left wall after you enter has a long bar with a few craft keg options that may or may not appeal, although as a visitor to the city I found something new here. Long high bench tables for food consumption and some sofas are its furniture.“

“Repurposed bank building in the city centre and it's certainly atmospheric for it, with a good range of this brew pubs beers available from the bar against the side wall, guests too. Food served too with those who enjoy pizzas well catered for here.“

“Central brewery tap in a large open plan room with a long bar running down the right hand wall. Food served alongside its own beer or guest if you prefer. Slightly industrious appearance with bench tables aplenty.“

The Raven (Bar)
81-85 RENFIELD STREET
“Modern pub and sports bar with a much better selection of craft than expected. A split level venue, which is sympathetically traditional, but very fresh looking at the same time, it's certainly worth a look-in here to see what's on their current lines.“

Stereo (Bar)
22-28 RENFIELD LANE
“Warehouse style music cafe-bar, up a small set of stairs along a back-street, long rather than deep in design with a Vegan menu. Not quite Bohemian in style but simple and functional. The bar against the back-wall has a good selection of craft keg backed up by some decent fridge options.“

Toby Jug (Bar)
6-8 WATERLOO STREET
“Ordinary functional public house on the western side of the main station in Glasgow, doing very good business with what looked like a horse racing enthusiasts crowd. There's not much to keep you long in here in the beer options, served from the bar in the middle of the side wall with plenty of macro choices.“

62 /100 30 BOTHWELL STREET,
“Corner pub with exaggerated German Beer Hall theme, although no less of a drinking venue for it. You could argue this is more of a restaurant as its set-up is perhaps a little more food focused, but I was in early in the day and they were more than happy just to let me drink. Most brews do come from Germany, although are macro in this respect, but their last line was a rotating craft effort, also imported from there.“

60 /100 160 WOODLANDS RD
“Corner bar with a small corner bar next to one of its two entrances. There was nothing too exciting on offer but a prominent fridge behind the service area offered up some alternative craft options. It's a relaxed place just into the West End if you're heading in from the city centre, serving food.“

“Randomly popped in on the day I was flying back to Munich and was a bit surprised by the bavarian furnishing of the place (including some very silly signage). Bit of a fun mix between pub and Bierhalle really. This went for the beers as well, most Lager styles I tries certainly had a local influence.“

“Usual stuff from Brewdog, this one amongst some lovely looking buildings in the Merchant City area.“

48 /100 6 NORTH COURT
“Courtyard pub a block west of George Square, looking more bar on the inside showing sport, feeling somewhat redundant in atmosphere, with an unexciting beer selection to match. You might find an acceptable craft keg option in here. Food is also served.“

70 /100 7 GEORGE SQUARE
“Large open plan Italian restaurant on the south side of George Square, although they were quite happy for me to sit at the bar and drink a flight of beers shortly before closing. There's a range of their bottled beers too just inside the door if you want to takeaway.“

Ark (Bar)
46 NORTH FREDERICK STREET,
“Modern bar just off the northern side of George Square. A large open plan space with little natural light, it has a long bar against one wall with lots of passable options, but a craft keg option might suffice. Good time late night drinkers are probably more of its staple here, especially as it shows sports.“

66 /100 1-3 PAISLEY ROAD WEST
“Glorious old pub, seemingly out of the way on the Paisley Road south of the river, on the cusp of an industrial area, however the trip is worth it just for the venue, but half a dozen microbrewed keg options will probably satisfy too. Dark wooden, ornately Victorian in style with a long bar against its back wall and booth seats and stools opposite against the windows, it oozes atmosphere, with the urban buzz of a busy road immediately outside.“

14 KELVINHAUGH STREET
“Rectangle single room bar and vegetarian/vegan focussed eatery, with some seats outside. The bar against the long back wall doesn't have the most eclectic of selections but something worthwhile can be found here and there was something new to me in keg.“

“Single storey locals pub along the road from Brewdog in the West End towards the city centre. Macro keg options and television sport here.“

64 /100 191 BYRES RD
“Large open plan corner pub around a central bar that fits a good row of real ales on it, including local and national microbrewed options. Busy, traditional, slightly chain-like in atmosphere, and certainly worth a visit if you're in this vibrant part of Glasgow's West End.“

Sloans (Bar)
62 ARGYLL ARCADE, 108 ARGYLL STREET
“In a courtyard off the northern side of Argyle Street, which has plenty of outdoor seating in good weather times, this Victorian style public house certainly looks the part on the inside with a central horseshoe type bar and booth seating around. More of a Glasgow institution and restaurant before a beer destination, although a few microbrewed regulars are available on cask, although for me often seen. It's a place to foremost see rather than to seek out new and interesting brews.“

“Corner pub on the main east-west pedestrian shopping street in the north of the centre. Chain-style locals public house, expect Scottish and UK wide macro keg options.“

46 /100 55 PORT DUNDAS ROAD
“Traditional looking corner pub just north of the main centre, across the main road that defines its edge after the theatre. Pleasant enough inside, it's a keg only venue with macro Scottish options available.“

42 /100 95-97 CAMBRIDGE STREET
“In the very north of the city centre, this placed proved handy being just around the corner from the Travelodge where I was staying - so was a one for the road place before going to bed. I caught some football on the screens in here - a two roomed venue with a horseshoe bar in with half in each room, but nothing of real interest to drink along it.“

“Just off Sauchiehall Street in a modern building but very much traditional in the Victorian style, with a rotund central service area, which has ample cask choices to warrant a look. Shows sports on televisions too.“

64 /100 153 NORTH STREET
“Split level traditional style pub facing the motorway on its western side, with a few tables out outside if you want to sup with the constant sound of fast moving motorcars. It's nice inside with the bar in the upper area after you enter, with plenty of worthy cask options to choose from.“

The Hall (Bar)
457 SAUCHIEHALL ST
“At the western end of Sauchiehall Street just before it crosses the motorway, this is a pleasantly decorated modern looking, but also chain looking pub. It has a long bar at the rear of an open plan space with plenty of comfy seating available. Here a row of craft keg options are available, quite a few familiar names, and they might not rotate that often.“

52 /100 401 SAUCHIEHALL ST
“Corner bar just along from the Hengler's Circus Wetherspoon. They have a trashy American style bar theme going on, but it's fine, with possibly a couple of keg ales if worth available. It's more of a late night place than early.“

Inn Deep (Bar)
445 GREAT WESTERN ROAD
“Formed out of the arches that make up the riverside section of the bridge over the River Kelvin where to the Kelvinbridge Station is, it has a cavernous feel to proceedings. A long bar along the left wall has plenty of keg options behind it, with some interesting stuff available. Food served and out seating with cover is available.“

Valhalla’s Goat (Beer Store)
449 GREAT WESTERN ROAD
“On the main road just across the river from Kelvinbridge Station. I'd imagine this is a Mecca for beers in this part of the world with a huge selection on offer - local, further afield, foreign, all styles, bottle and cans. I love the bookcase style ladders for access to the high shelf products!“

62 /100 74 PARK ROAD; PORT DUNDAS
“Corner pub at a bend in the main road, as behind it slopes down to the river. It's a traditional Scottish style pub, there is a subtle difference between the look here and south of the border and this is a good example. Craft cssk and keg served although not extensive in selection.“

Cave (Beer Store)
421 GREAT WESTERN ROAD
“Main road wine, spirits and beers by the bridge and Kelvinbridge station entrance. There's some familiar cans and bottles in their decent enough selection, but plenty of innovative craft too - local and beyond.“

“Massively busy, hugely lively traditional bar near the highway, absolutely packed and loud. This place is foremost a whiskey bar. Struggled a bit with the local accents of the servers but that one is fully on me. Whiskey selection is ridiculous, menu was on an iPad so maybe also online, not sure about that. 10 cask beers on top as well, one I had was wonderful condition. Loads that I love about this place, wish I would have had more time to try more and relax, sadly I had only one round before I wanted to be at a concert.“

Grunting Growler (Beer Store)
51 OLD DUMBARTON ROAD
“Bottle shop with some tables, minimalist but clean, mirrors on the side though. Some clear American influence between the country music, owners’ American accent and the beer selection. 2 £ drink-in / corkage fee on all beers. None of the cans had prices marked on them, which I absolutely hate, especially here when the price range is potentially this broad and some offerings quite expensive. Beyond that, lovely service, and very impressive selection. Belgians, mead, hype USA cans, Scottish craft, about 8 taps, loads of modern craft, wonderful selection.“

“Smaller BrewDog with great view of Kelvingrove Art Gallery just across it. Mostly BrewDog standards on tap but a German BrewDog and a Pineapple Punch cider were two small surprises. They have board games which amused us. Usual food menu etc. available, pleasant enough for sure. Friendly service. “

78 /100 141 DUMBARTON ROAD
“Traditional old men society pub. Lived in with still some Christmas vibes and minor touches. 8 casks are what is interesting here, keg is macro, Punk IPA etc. Some cask beers I haven't really seen before. Special deals for students etc. available. Lovely place for a drink but not essential.“

66 /100 44 - 46 ASHTON LN, HILLHEAD
“Located in a back alley with loads of restaurants. Bricks on the outside, some BrewDog style and dark green touches. Vegan food options available, Untappd screen projected. Core range available which is about serviceable, tank beer lager was also available, I wasn't either impressed, some more interesting guests like Kernel and Overtone, okay but wasn't too crazy about the place.“

90 /100 686-688 POLLOKSHAWS ROAD
“Located in a more residential area, quite busy, charming and lively. Lovely service too. Two cask beers including a Fyne Ales I hadn't seen before. Solid selection of Belgians bottled, including a quite good lambiek selection. Also some modern craft more hyped beers like Emperor's Brewing, surprises on tap from the likes of Origins. By very far the best modern day craft beer selection I saw on my trip. Excellent place.“

82 /100 92 WEST GEORGE STREET
“One of those absolutely massive places in the center, the ceiling is just insanely high, looks like an upscale bank from decades ago, there are bank vault doors in the basement behind which there are toilets. They bake pizza too, we had a vegan one with Ihr Bru chili jam which was lovely, not peak but very nice. Huge Untapped screen projected on a wall. Impressive building, almost a bit too much. Nice playlist with funk etc. too. Their own beers are not amazing decent, serviceable. Quite surprising guest taps too with the likes of Tempest, Polly's and Overtone. The can selection is similar, didn't expect too much but wound up quite enjoying it.“

“Absolutely gigantic and absolutely packed, very loud and busy, overwhelmingly so. Huge ceiling, huge place, lots of wood and dark green. Crazy amount of people. Core range on tap plus some expensive BA beers available, bit of an odd / surprising guest tap list with Fuerst Wiacek, Kernel, Northern Monk. Their own beers are about okay and this place is a bit exhausting. Tried the onion rings which were fun.“

78 /100 99 HUTCHESON STREET
“Quite a big and popular BrewDog in the center, lots of people, BBQ focus / menu available and the place smelled of BBQ meat, looks standard for a BrewDog. 10 or so standard BrewDog taps, Punk AF, Wingman, King Kölsch, nothing surprising. Slightly more interesting guest taps with 3 Stillwater beers (haven't seen those in a long time), Pressure Drop, Boundary,... Some surprises in the fridge but those are largely expensive USA sours. Decent BrewDog for sure, maybe tad above average.“

68 /100 36 BELL ST, MERCHANT CITY
“Lovely traditional pub with some great tiger motives on the ceiling panels for one, great lamps and lots of room. Keg are almost all sadly macro, that does include 3 Beavertown taps with decorations and Weihenstephaner. Luckily there's cask which was all Stewart, good but could have been a bit more exciting beer-wise. Still great interior and mood.“

“Under Glasgow Central accessed on the units closest to the riverside on Argyle Street as it passes under the terminus. This is suitably atmospheric under the brick arches holding up countless tonnes of station above. It's more cocktail bar than pub but is also a restaurant too. About half a dozen taps against the middle of a central bar carry a fair amount of craft, but mostly safe regularly seen ones. Only one was new for me, and if I still lived in London I'd have probably had that one before too! This place is very useful for the station as there's an entrance to the platforms immediately across the road.“

60 /100 112 STOCKWELL STREET
“Traditional slightly olde-world style pub close to the river, long rather than deep with a similarly long bar immediately upon you against the back wall as soon as you enter. It's open plan but with defined areas and wooden dividers. Cask is the main choice here with a decent enough crafted selection.“

Ox and Finch (Restaurant)
920 SAUCHIEHALL STREET
“A block above Argyle Street in the West End, this is very much a restaurant so unless you're eating here it's unlikely you'll get to sample some of their worthwhile keg choices, over half a dozen behind the short bar immediately to the right of the entrance. Thornbridge currently feature here often.“
