60 /100 Shoulder at Hardstoft (Bar) DEEP LANE, A nice roadside pub with 6 hand pumps and at least four local cask beers. The Shoulder is on the edge of the village, by the old main road where a lane leads into the village centre. There’s quite a large complex of buildings (it also offers accommodation) and the bar is entered through a long low stone building. The public bar is bright and clean, decorated in a 1960s or ‘70s style with built in banquettes and a patterned carpet. The small bar near the entrance and the lounge are much more cosy and stylish, with squashy leather sofas and a roaring fire. They, like the dining area, wouldn’t look out of place in a Habitat or Ikea room set. It’s a nice place and only 3 or 4 miles from junction 29 if you want to break a journey on the M1.
