“Called La Cidrerie now. Cosey place, with friendly staff and also friendly space when you have kids. Staff is friendly but english is not too good, didnt really understand my questions about special ciders. The place is definitely a good pick in a way too touristic Honfleur. Crepes are pretty okay. Would visit again.“

This place in the old town Honfleur about a block away from the harbor on one of the smal shopping streets that has a small slope upwards. This is on your lefthand side if you are walking away from the harbor on Place Hamelin and hook left at the fork. Immediately on your left, down in any ally will be La Cidrerie tucked away in a corner. If it’s closed, there is a metal gate pulled down. Open, it is a welcoming, wood furnished saloon of sorts.

This was listed in the UK’s cidernaut guide on their wiki. Like a lot of places in France, this has no website, facebook, twitter, or even normal opening hours. Closed on all holidays. But the menu says they are open at noon.

Cider House is mainly a galletteria (buckwheat crepes) with a big emphasis on Normandy ciders/cidre. They had 2 ciders at least on direct fill from oak barrels. Then a large bottle list and a large cellar with many cider bottles not even listed on the menu. So I just asked the server for her recommendations and were served a lot of crazy Norman ciders I’ve never heard of in the typical cork and caged 750s. Food was good, and they have a full menu. All the gallettes are made to order. Staff was friendly and helpful. All spoke English very well. Their recommendations were delicious. Very fun, local hangout. If you have the patience to find this place, you’ll be greatly rewarded on your cider journey. Though I still think the best cider in France is from Cave de Mirande (added to ratebeer so just search for it).“
