66 /100 CUKURA IELA 21 This used to be a small single room with their beers, now evolved to a restaurant + brewery location. Work hours are a bit odd, but it is easily accessible by train (ride to Cukurfabrika) not much else around, but the city center is within walking distance.
Worth a visit if in Jelgava or just really want to try their beers.
Did not try the food, but took a few beers I had not tried. |
52 /100 Kreklukrogs (Bar) LELA IELA 19A I’ve been visiting Jelgava about once a year for 20 years now, and this is the first time I’ve managed to find a bar that is reasonable ! Difficult to find despite the address being on the main street. There is a sign by no 19 Liela Iela, but the actual place is about 100 yards down an alleyway.
The building is modern with a large semi-covered terrace outside. Open plan inside, but the area round the bar is darker than everywhere else !
Beer selection not wildly exciting, but any port in a storm. Has 6 taps, serving Valmiermuizas, 2 from Cesu, their own house beer “Jekaba Cerina”, a Kvass and a cider. Service was reasonable. Food available and looked OK, but I didn’t try it.
