60 /100 Loksins Bar (Bar) KEFLAVÍK Absolutely packed, but no staff. When staff arrives slower than snails. Guinness on tap you say? I better pour you can then!
Beer choice not bad, Borg on tap and all, but as a place below lowest margins amongst airport bars. |
48 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK Well, it's an airport, so the usual things to expect. Duty free with some six packs and prices lower than the Icealndic standard, but still on teh expensive side for an average traveller (some Icealndic beers, some Faroe and Greenland beers as well, and some of the usual suspects). There's a restaurant that also serves some beers and Loksins bar, two locations, that already has a separate entry. At least you can find soem good beers in this airport. |
44 /100 Loksins Bar (Bar) KEFLAVÍK A bar inside the terminal, with the best choice of beers around. Looks like almost any other airport bar, prices are, well Icelandic. Would go there for the atmosphere, but if craving some beer while waiting for your flight, that's the spot. |
64 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK As noted by other reviewers, the main aspect of the Airport if the duty free upon entry and exit. Minimal selection of Icelandic beers, available as six packs or a few samples packs. There was one Faroe Island sample pack available as well. Though expensive, prices are better than elsewhere in Iceland. Probably worth grabbing a six pack of Borg on the way in. In addition to Duty Free, I ate and drank at Nord restaurant after security and before the gates. Decent selection of bottled beers from Ölvisholt and Einstock. 64 = ** (Just ok) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
48 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK First time visitor to Iceland. Sort of hard to rate the whole airport in one rating when it comes to various tax free stores and restaurants. When arriving, you seem only allowed to shop at the arrivals tax free store next to the baggage claims, you're not even allowed to eat at the restaurants. On the other hand, you are actually allowed to shop tax free on arrival! Yes, including alcohol and tobacco. The prices are very very high, though tax and VAT free, I heard that the airport have raised the rent so that the prices are still very high. Arrived on Thursday July 5, 2018. Got two 6 packs of beer from the arrivals tax free. The selection here was kind of poor, and you had to buy 6 packs of all the beers. We picked up two 6 packs of cans and then headed out. Upon departure, after security, we were there again on Thursday July 12, 2018. Bigger selection of beer around, including some mix packs and singles, depending on which store you went to. Also ate at one of the restaurants for departing passengers, which was to our surprise quite fair in prices on both food and beer. Selection of beer was poor, they did have a Borg Ulfur IPA on tap though. Not a bad airport overall, though again, the "tax free" selection is quite expensive, for sure less expensive than in Iceland itself, but a lot of the times more expensive than if I were to buy the same or similar product in Sweden (which is not very cheap). If you are a arriving passenger heading into Iceland, and you are not only searching for ticks but some alcohol to have for the trip itself, good idea to pick something up here. |
38 /100 Loksins Bar (Bar) KEFLAVÍK Best place for a beer and a bit to eat in Keflavik Airport D Terminal |
56 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK This is an airport so don’t expect any ambience or service. However, prices are cheap by Icelandic standards and the option to bring Icelandic beers with you is worth a few minutes of you time. Only letdown is that you only can buy sixpacks. |
60 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK If this is a review of the whole of the set-up at Keflavik airport let me add that as a stop-over (Bristol-Toronto) the sight of six beers from microbrewery Borg and a large-ish open sandwich of Icelandic smoked salmon, avocado & egg was a far better prospect than at most European airports. |
76 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK Selection is large, taking all the bars and duty free stores into account. Too bad you can only buy sixpacks in the dutyfree stores. Search singles at the other places. Prices are better than inside Iceland. |
64 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK Nice selection of beer in all shops. Good bars as well when thirsty before fligth. When coming back then the duty free has OK selection of beer. Remember to buy in duty free, as the price is considerable better than in alcohol stores in Iceland. |
74 /100 Ráin Veitingahùs (Bar) HAFNARGATA 19 Good bar with good ocean view.
good selection of icelandic beers and microbrewery´s. decor maby outdated
Only Lagers on tab and special beers in bottles counted 14 diffrent kinds of micro beers last time I was there. and the same with whisky good selection. friendly staff |
70 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK Certainly better than the average airport, with six-packs in the duty-free, and a reasonable range of single bottles in the Iceland Delicacies store, plus a pop-up bar in the middle of the shopping area with several Christmas beers on tap. |
70 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK To those reading that they don’t sell individual bottles, all of the cafes and shops in the main concourse sell singles. Einstok and Kaldi and Gæðingar bottles (Pale Ale, Stout, IPA, Wheat) are available at the various bars in the airport. Einstok and Borg are available in six packs at the duty free shop (Borg Imperial Stout, Porter, IPA, Witbier Nr. 10). Borg is also available as singles, to drink or take with, at the small drinks bar in the main terminal shop and dining mall, and was the only place to find the Baltic Porter Nr. 27, which was sold out a week later going back through. This mini bar also includes four Ölvisholt bottles, including their new hoppy wheat and pumpkin beer, and occasionally the Lava Stout. All told, you could probably scour 25 different beers in the Airport, making it one of the better beer selections in Iceland. They seem to have figured out that beer sells well to people passing through. 70/100 score given considering the place as a bottle shop more than a bar, newness of products to travelers, quality of the beer available, and permissive laws allowing you to take six packs or singles from the bar on your carry-on for your second leg. There are not many airports that do so well in regards to beer. Portland compares. |
42 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK Average selection, only packs, nothing special. |
40 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK Bought some beers for my flight back home. Unfortunately, they do not sell individual bottles, only in packs. This did limit my choice. Selection consists mostly of Borg and Einstök beers. I did find three of the Mikkeller/3 Floyd collaboration beers here at a fair price, I had room for one in my bag. Nice opportunity to grab a few beers. |
50 /100 Vínbúðin Reykjanesbær (Beer Store) KROSSMÓUM 4 Small state monopoly liquor store near Keflavik airport, offering a small number of Icelandic craft beer in bottles and cans as well as a pile of cheap(er) macro swill. The selection from store to store varies, but most of these stores carry the same stuff, not including some of the better beers made in Iceland from Borg and Ölvisholt, which you can find in the beer bars of Reykjavik. I came away with a single 33cl spiced Easter beer from Steðji. |
36 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK Good selection of Icelandic beer at the departure hall, found some unrated beers here, a pleasant surprise on my way home. Also some brewery gift packs with different beers. As an airport shop, OK, nothing essential though |
52 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK There is decent beer selection here for an airport and at lower prices for on-site consumption than many bars in Reykjavik city centre -- they had a few from Borg, Olvisholt, Einstok, etc. The duty free beer selection is pretty limited though, with only a few Icelandic micros available and only in six-packs. If you have some time to kill, you can find some decent stuff here. |
58 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK Well, it is an airport, but it is a recently renovated airport and there is some beer available for on premise consumption or take away. The selection is somewhat limited. |
40 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK Compact, efficient airport, although it’s a long walk to the gates. Duty free had Einstok, two Borgs (10 & 19) and macros, but only in 4- and 6-packs. Bars had singles. Saga lounge had Gull and Danish macro crap. Not very exciting. But, TSA has changed their rules, so you can now buy beer etc in duty free and take it onto the aircraft without being suspected of working for Osama bin Laden. |
44 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK Quite nice for an airport. Limited selection of course, but some sweet Icelandic craft beer were found. There are worse airports than this one to be stranded on. |
44 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK The selection was quite limited. Einstök White Ale, Pale Ale, Viking Gylltur and Thule. Long queues. |
48 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK Not bad for an Airport. Several interesting micros in the bar (both Borg and Einstök at least) and some of them also available Duty Free store (kind of strange to sell beer like Borg Garún Nr. 19 with 11,5% ABV in six-packs , but...) |
48 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK Nord bar, airside. 3 macro taps, very decent local micro bottles, including Botg Garun and Ulfur. Dire service. |
52 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK airport. bar. Horrible service. Good thing is that Icelandic micro is available for travallers. Bad things: everything else |
28 /100 Keflavík International Airport (Beer Store) KEFLAVÍK I got a ham sandwich here on my return from Europe back in summer 2012. Saw a couple of rews in the cooler. Didn’t realize that meant a new tick. Decent terminals and a couple of nice walking belts. Buncha hote blonde icelande babes. Annoying customs line but at least they didn’t steal any of the lambic cred in my suit cases. Couldn’t find any Diet Dew or Mountain Dew Free. No MacDonalds, no KFC, no Panda Express. Ugh |
46 /100 Vínbúðin Reykjanesbær (Beer Store) KROSSMÓUM 4 A little booze shop near the Netto market (or look for KFC, it’s just south of there in a strip mall)...the address doesn’t work worth a shit in Google maps, but the vinbudin.is site marks it correctly. Some swill cans and a small corner of more serious bottles. Some Belgian crap imports (Leffe and such), some random Icelandic stuff from Ovisholt, Borg, Gaedingur, etc. It would probably only take 2 or 3 visits to exhaust all the interesting stuff they have (for outsiders). But hey, come on...this is Reykjanes...there’s nothing here, so if you happen to crash here one night since it’s near the airport, you’ll be thanking your lucky stars you can get ANYTHING of this caliber here. That said, even the KEF airport has more Borg beers than this store, so...don’t expect much and be happy with what little you find. |
