Located in the middle of the Klagenfurt city center this is a kind of Scottish/Irish influenced Austrian restaurant most importantly serving the Wimitzer beers. On tap they have a great Märzen, a dark lager (Lemisch), a stout (Black Jack) and a Weizen. Did not drink the Weizen, all others were really good. The brewery is located in the middle of nowhere (Kraig/Wimitz - 20 miles from Klagenfurt) and is close to a well providing soft water perfect for brewing great beers. Food in the restaurant was great. We had mussels and beef tartare. A must visit if you are in the Klagenfurt area.“ |

| 76 /100 PFARRHOFGASSE 2 “Good place which brew just one bier , Hausbrau, and you can see the brewing ( just a bit of it actually) equipment as you enter .. not sure they really brew in here because you can see just the top of a tank and a direct pipe from it but it could be just ornamental ..probably the best beer I had in Carinthia , nothing really special but easy drinkable, the atmosphere was good with space even at the bar and a typical Bierhaus feeling .. good and friendly service who speaks in Italian too .. did not trie the food but they have extensive menu .. the rest of the taps are occupied with Augustiner Helles and Puntigam beers“ |
| 74 /100 SCHLEPPE PLATZ 1 “Nice traditional Keller unfortunately with some strange electronic forniture ( discotheque mirrorball or Stroboscopic light ) which ruins a bit the atmosphere but the place looks nice indeed.. service fast and direct ..It’s still a brewpub and the kegs are brewed here while the bottles coming from Villacher Brau ( which bought Schleppe few years ago ) we got the Marzen and Dunkles and were just in the average nothing really special .. good food especially the selection of dry aged meat ..“ |
| 80 /100 SCHLEPPE PLATZ 1 “Schleppe is one of Austrian’s most innovative breweries with a lot of tradition - was founded in 1607. The brewery is located not too far away from Klagenfurt’s center. They offer regular brewery tours, nice middle sized brew house, looks very nice from outside. A Schnappsbrennerei (distillery) is also located on site. They have a small shop attached selling interesting souvenirs (very nice Schleppe watch). The beers you can taste in the Felsenkeller, which is next door. Nice ambiance, beers are all above average. I like the Schleppe Zwickel and the Dunkel most. When in Carinthia a must place to visit.“ |
