“A scenic, short walk through the orchards uphill from the fjord. Lovely ambiance and very friendly service. Great selection of both ciders and the alcohol free apple juices and some jams and other fruit related products. Well worth a visit if passing by.“

“What a magic place To sit on the patio at this place and look at the lovely fjord and the mountains on the other side… Highly recommendable! Also impressed by their beer. And: this is important! – you can buy bottles and bring with you home! “

“Licenced to sell their own ciders from the farm, within the frame of Vinmonopolet opening hours. Scenic location at Lofthus. Limited opening hours, but you can call the friendly owner (which I did), who will be happy to help you if he is around the premises. They only had their one best-selling and prize-winning cider available - I had sampled it previously, but as I knew it was an excellent cider, I bought a bottle. Recommended for a visit.“

“Licenced to sell their own ciders from the farm, within the frame of Vinmonopolet opening hours. Scenic location at Lofthus. Alas, their ciders were completely sold out for the season when I visited 21.08.21. Self service fridge for apple juice, you call them if you want to purchase cider (when in stock).“

“From Lofthus, follow the road to Lofthus Camping, continue through the campsite and the cidery is close to the road at the right side. Beer5000 has described most of what is worth mentioning, but I visited the cidery and bottle shop that is in the red barn at the picture. Entrance from the road. If not open, there is a phone number to call. Very nice little bottle shop, two ciders and an apple juice. Helleland Gard now offers cider in 75 cl or 37,5 cl bottles. “A long walk up the hill from Lofthus, or drive.... Very tourist friendly set up with apple juice for self service. This sales booth is right beside the trail where hikers come down from the mountain. Hiking "Dronningstien" is very popular and I guess many can't resist the temptation of cold cider or apple juice! We had a friendly chat with the apple farmer himself. I quenched my thirst with a bottle fresh apple juice and purchased a new cider. (Visited June 19th 2021 with my wife)“

“Beer5000 walked into a basement, in June 2021 there was a new wooden building that is Alvavoll's bottle shop. See picture above. If no people to serve you, press the bell next to the door. There is "always" someone at home at the farm in the tourist season. From downtown Lofthus it is maybe a 5-10 minutes walk uphill to Alvavoll. We chose to drive since it was raining. The trip is longer but provides great views of Lofthus and the orchards in the hillside. I found three new ciders at my visit and it stopped raining when we left for our next cider destination in Lofhus. (Visited June 19th 2021 with my wife)“

“Quite straight forward a typical farm shop in the area. You walk into the basement at the barn and see one bottle of each available cider displayed. When asking you get the information at each bottle and make a choice. Nothing extra or nothing less. There is also organized tasting for groups and some other products for sale such as apple juice and honey.“

“Seems to be a quite big apple farm. While walking the Dronningstien (her Majesty Queen Sonja official walking path) from Kinsarvik to Lofthus you will end up at a dirt road down the hill towards Lofthus passing thousands of apple trees. At the pick-up spot for the transit taxis they have placed two sales fridges outdoor for thirsty travelers. One fridge with non-alcoholic apple juice and the other one with different vintages and bottle sizes of their cider. Everything is self-serviced, just pick up the stuff you want and pay with VIPS (Norwegian money transfer system through cell phones). One guy from the farm was available to prefer age check for the alcoholic fridge and also answered questions regarding their products, otherwise everything seems to be based on thrust. So I did not actually visit the farm or the shop itself but felt that this arrangement was well wort mention here.“

“A great place for beer in the middle of a beer desert. Staff was friendly and gave me at her own initiative a full presentation of the two beers and cider that where on tap this evening. The weather was nice so to patio was such a nice place to sit with my beer to watch the sunset over Hardangerfjorden. A must visit place of course.“

“New rating: Finally a revisit after five years! What is new? Well, now the sun was shining and we spent all our time on the nice patio with excellent fjord view. New beers and more ciders available. We really enjoyed our visit. We stayed at Ullensvang Gjesteheim only a ten minutes walk from this brewpub. One more new thing is that the name has changed from "Ekspedisjonen Skjenkestove" to "Lofthus Ekspedisjon" The brewery also has the same namne. In front there is a caravan/sales booth where you can purchase their four different ciders (strong!) and bottled beer up to 4.7% There are different rules for cider and beer in Norway. (Visited June 19th 2021 with my wife) Original rating: 5-9-9-x-9-16=3.9 What a great place! A 10 minutes stroll downhill from Lofthus Camping through orchards in bloom led us to this lively brewpub. The whole village seemed to join the quiz this Friday evening. 4 well kept beers on tap and a really good cider. When enjoying a thirst quencher and trying to hang on in the quiz, we could watch an avalanche from the glacier Folgefonna across the fjord. Friendly service and rather cheap beer (in Norway...) On tap this day: Hardingpils, Bitter Harding, Blond Harding, Ekte Harding and the cider: Skrik 70 (Visited May 6th 2016 with Gunnar, Holmen1 and Holmen2)“

“Four gentlemen gone beer hunting, May-16: great atosphere (quiz night), beautifully situated in a stunning landscape, very pleasant staff and great beers brewed on the premises, moderately priced. That’s all we need to have a memorable evening in good company.“

“Updating 14.5.16. Revisited 6.5.16 Large pub with 4 beers on tap, and one tasty Cider as well. Busy quiz night when we visited, completely full and crowded, still they managed to keep all guests hoppy and serving up loads of their well brewed beers. Recommended stop. Visited 19.2 on my way to Voss. Small brewpub with a big patio overlooking the fjord and mountains of Hardanger. My reason for the stop here was their bottled beers, 2 different available at my short visit. Will revisit and try the full line up on tap, hopefully later this year....“

“A quite cozy, modern looking place with the brewery visible in one end of the brewpub. But the best is if you can come here on a summer night and sit on the patio, looking at the fjord and the mountain, and you can even see part of the glacier on the other side of the fjord. The beers aren’t the most exciting in the world, but they’re decent enough, and they’re friendly people too. Be sure to stop by if you’re in the area.“

“Visited together with yngwie on our Norwegian brewery tour and we got a small tour of the brewery by Olav. It’s a nice small place with easy drinkable beers. But sitting out on the patio with a couple of cold beers on a sunny day looking at the fjord and Folgefonna is rather breathtaking.“

“11.04.2013. Visit together with work colleagues. The brewers had prepeared a tasting of three of the beers. Nice tour at the very small brewery! Very nice beers, very nice place and good to see that they are doing so well!“

“Visited on the night of the football world championship 2010. 3 of their own brews on tap. I accidentally ran into the brewmaster and co-owners. They are passionate about local brewing traditions, and I would not be surprised if some later brews are brewed with "brakalog". They showed real hospitality and allowed me to taste their upcoming lager. They regard the place as still being developed, For instance they were wrapping up from a photo shoot ment to be part of an exhibition in the pub featuring the story of the brewery; they also talked about getting sampler boards for their beers. Situated about 150 meters from the historic "Ullensvang Hotel", it has a great location, especially the patio with a fantastict view of the Hardanger fjord.“

“4-5 years old as a pub, but only 1 year old as a brewpub. 4 of their own beers were on when I visited, but they also have Hansa Pilsner on tap for the "ignorant multitude". Also a couple bottles of local Hardanger cider. Most of the year they are open only Friday night and Saturday night, in the peak tourist season during summer they are also open Wednesday night and Thursday night. Organised beer tastings and functions are held by appointment. In warm weather the terrace outside is the place to be. Spectacular view of the Hardanger Fjord. The architecture and interior of the pub itself is nothing special, situated in a former shipchandler’s and fruit warehouse. Occasional live music.“

“Visited in the summer during lunch time when the place was rather empty - as was to be expected, so my impression might not be totally fair. There were only one beer (but a good one) as they had recently opened, but I got the impression they were planning more, as well as a selection of locally produced cider. The food was good and well-made. The surrounding nature is magnificent. I hope to be able to come back.“
