74 /100 Kelterei Jörg Stier (Beer Store) AM KREUZSTEIN 25 Great little cider-market of the cidery Jörg Stier, selling not only a very broad selection of the Kelterei’s own ciders, but also further equipment like typical glasses ("Gerippte"), jugs ("Bembel") and even books. Worth a detour, and can be easily combined with a visit to the Mainkur brewpub.
Attention: Just around the corner - Stoltzestrasse - You’ll find a drinks-market of the same name, but independent; a limited selection of ciders of other small producers and a fortunately also limited selection of crappy german beers can be found there. Worth a try… |
80 /100 Kelterei Jörg Stier (Beer Store) AM KREUZSTEIN 25 The Hofverkauf of the Kelterei is located just a little bit outside of Frankfurt, around 20 minutes by car. They offer around 40 homemade apple specialities. Most Apfelweine are priced fair (up to 4 Euro ), yet there are some expensive bottles ("exklusiv") for around 15€ as well. The owner is very friendly, offering Apfelwein from the tank to taste. Would go back thereanytime, yet bring cash with you since they don’t do EC / credit cards. |
52 /100 Zum Neuen Bau (Restaurant) HAUPTSTRASSE 44 Interior: the old style that looks old but not warm; I would also challenge the hygene, mainly of the toilets. Serviced by a mostly charming lady with a perfect English accent and sweet manners; I also got a tour of the picobrewery given by the owner/brewer. They have 4 or 5 beers on tap, none of which is really interesting.
Brewery open 2007; restaurant opened/owned end 2009 |
