76 /100 PLAZA AT BUCKLAND HILLS, 1480 PLEASANT VALLEY ROAD,
“Typical Total Wine layout. Good selection of singles, especially CT based. Overall, about the norm for Total Wine, which is good.“

“Open space, located in a mall plaza with a BJ's. Warehouse style, beer is on the left side. Good single selection, with a number of foreign rarities. Good spot.“

“Located in an old mill. Very nicely renovated keeping the older feel. Love the old floors with the flat nails. Brew area is visible thru windows in a few spots. Bar staff was knowledgeable. Beers are good. They had 5 on tap the day i was there. Some pre-made sandwiches available, as well as a food truck the day I was there.“

“I stopped in here on the way back from Cape Cod on way to NY. As the wife waited impatiently in the car for me I told her I just wanted to get a few local beers. They had a very large local section and I ended up getting a full case of singles. Much better prices then I had expected. If in that area again in the future, I'll stop in again.“

“A pretty epic store that has an extensive wine selection first and foremost, but also a wonderful beer selection that is perhaps more impressive for its imports than locals. They even have a special mead section that even includes 5 Polish meads. Very good prices too. If you’re in the area, it’s worth a detour to check this great place out.“

70 /100 PLAZA AT BUCKLAND HILLS, 1480 PLEASANT VALLEY ROAD,
“Expanded place close to Manchester Wine and Spirits. Doesn’t have the same selection, but prices seem a little better. Organized by US/international, then by style. And also by singles/packs. A few locals. No one asked to help, but I wasn’t looking for help either.“

86 /100 PLAZA AT BUCKLAND HILLS, 1480 PLEASANT VALLEY ROAD,
“I may have underestimated the number of bottles in this place. I probably should have said 1,200 or more. This is immediately off I-84, Exit 62 and straight ahead to a shopping plaza. A humungous liquor, spirits and win section and the beer aisles are more than impressive with their tall shelves. There’s a macro aisle and a lot of regional and international choices in other aisles. The have an abundant choice of singles that can be bought individually in a mixed 6-pack. Friendly, knowledgeable service. The prices are a lot lower than I expected. I saw some 3 year old Goose Island brew for under $3 each. It is 2 1/2 hour trip for me but worth another trip back.“

“This is why I love Ratebeer! Great tip everybody. This place rocks. Great selection, including singles for the poor traveler, including a free, neat little carrying bag. Lots of regionalmpicks and amazing import aisle. Awesome.“

“Great store all around. Amazing selection for CT, helpful sales folks, and the "mix a six" from ANY beers in the store is fantastic- and the individual bottle prices are extremely reasonable and have very little (if any) markup from buying them as a 4 or 6pk. I never miss an opportunity to stop by if I’m in the area “

“This store is a pretty good stop, with a broad selection of Belgian, Polish, and Scandinavian beers. The prices are a.nip high. The biggest problem is that most beers available in six packs are not available as singles. Also, the regional selection was not the best. Nobody tried to help me in twenty minutes of wandering. Still one of the better stores I’ve seen in Connecticut so far.“

“Maybe the best store in my terrible beer state of CT. Selection is great for the state and its antiquated liquor laws. Huge selection of german and eastern european beers was strange. As far as american micros they have what they can get so you cant fault them for that. Ive never asked the staff for any help and theyve never asked me either so take that for what it is.“

“It’s a chain throughout the state, the manchester store has a decent selection, your standard common micros, unibroue, belgians, etc, its really cheap though. They have a clearance section, where I’ve found some bottle conditioned beers preaged. It’s worth a pass but with manchester wine and liquors a mile away, it loses.“

“One of the best places in connecticut, good american craft selections, german beers, lots of bombers, but very little belgian selection. Some rare gems show up but you can see the limitation of connecticut distributors.“

“Def one of the better spots in CT, more of a selection than most places in terms of quantity, my only gripe is the rotation. Dust on some bottles once...ok, twice...not good...three times, tells me this place doesnt rotate properly. Been in here 3-4 times now, pretty much the same stuff everytime.“

“One of my go-to places in the area. They have every single beer that they can get. No joke, if the distributor has some, so do these guys. Some of the bottles get a little dusty, but they are the biggest, baddest beer store in the area.“

“Very awesome selection here! Lots of stuff in the coolers, a mix-a-six selection and a huge selection of bombers and 750s. Good prices too. The seemed to have some stuff I can’t get in MA. If you are passing through CT on I-84, you need to stop and check this place out!“

“Great place that devotes two entire warehouse-size walls to beer. And they mean business. If you are looking for the classic NE stuff (Harpoon, Magic Hat, Shipyard, etc), go straight to the cooled fridges, where it 6-packs are arranged roughly by geographic area of origin. If you want better stuff (or fine European brews), head straight for the far left store aisles, where all this is arranged quite nicely. You won’t find anything rarer than say, Cantillon or Hooker’s Liberator Doppelbock, but there is one HUGE plus about this store: you can break ANYTHING into singles!! Just pull ’em out of their case and load up your own! Enjoy.“

“Pretty awesome beer store. They have a good selection of imports and domestic (and locals) brews. They have tons of beer so you are guaranteed to find something new. They have a small selection of glassware (although nothing special). Mix a 6 deal for ANY 12-oz beer. Pretty good pricing too, especially for Belgians (generally). The staff has always been quite helpful if you’re inquiring about a specific beer. Nothing too unique and they don’t seem to get new stuff (stuff they don’t already have) in that often, but like I said, there are so many bottles you are bound to find something. Check it out!“

“Many beers available here, macros, micros, rare beers, and you can even break up six packs! Best place to go in the Tolland county area! They just moved to a new building, very nice, huge section of coolers full of many, many great beers!“

“Like the other reviews say, this place is both classy and convenient. Selection of domestic micros stays pretty much in the New England area with a few more typical exceptions. Selection of Europeans was mixed, although I picked up some of the Greenwich beers while there. Staff was helpful. I’d definitely go back again, but not out of the way.“

“Oh, how I love this place. Clean, plenty of parking, great selection, good prices, nice people. The manager is a friendly guy but I also doubt how much the other employees know about what they sell. They will ask for a back up (i.e. credit card) if you have an out of state license, fyi. As The_Jester said they have a "Beer Bible" which is a recent addition and I spent about 15 seconds flipping through (I really don’t remember what was even in it. It could be good for some though). They have a large refridgerated section with beers I haven’t seen sold cold anywhere else. They have lots of American microbrews and a large Belgian section and Eastern European section (?). My favorite part has to be the mixed 6-pack. In the back left corner by the cold singles is a large rack with singles and a box of empty sixers packages. If you buy the beers in multiples of 6 they will sell them to you at the 6-pack price rather than the single price. Even new beers and $3/$4 bottles may be offered for the mixed 6. They also have a large wine and hard alcohol section but that’s not what we’re going for, right? The best liquor store in Manchester and the area.“

“WOW. I’ve never been in a place like this before. (But then, I don’t get out much.) Huge, bright, clean store with a very good selection. (Didn’t see many Canadian brews, however.) Semi-well organized - someone has tried to lavel the shelves by country, but it’s a little confusing. A singles (mostly American micros) shelf can be found at the back. They also have a "Beer Bible," which seems to be some random scraps printed out on an inkjet printer that was low on ink. The service is very friendly and helpful, but not particularly knowledgeable, at least when it comes to beer. Prices seem good. I’ll be back.“

“After all the high marks from this store, visiting was a bit of a let down. Lots of mediocre German and English beers with the occasional rarity. Not as many hard to find beers as I would have liked, but good for the area. The prices are decent and the staff are friendly both of which are bonuses.“

“Small beer selection. They had one small aisle with a lot of dusty bottles. Their selection included a lot of Polish beers and some other Eastern European beers not of note. They have singles of most beers and a reasonable variety of cold 6-packs and cases. Prices ranged from low to a little high. All in all, I’d rather see a bigger selection than lower prices there. The guy at the counter was very friendly but I wouldn’t consider him a beer expert.“

“My homebase store. The selection here is very good, especially for Connecticut. They boast that they have the largest Belgian selection in CT. They also have a very large English, German and Eastern European selections, all separated into separate sections. Prices are very good (Allagash Interlude was $12) The best part about the store is that not only do they allow mixed sixers, but they encourage them ... there is a set of shelves set aside with nothing but singles, empty sixpack holders and a sign that says "Create your own sixpack"“

“One of my favorite places to shop. Quite a few local and regional brews and an amazing selection of Belgian and Belgian style ales. They have an excellent selection of bomber size beers from the USA and all over the world. Cooler is farily large and well stocked, but check out the warm beer selection too. Brews from Eastern Europe as well as just about everywhere else. Prices are very good and service is excellent.“

“I finally made it to the new location. It didn’t feel all that much bigger to me, but the one major improvement is that the store is organized far better. One long shelf of imports on one side with a long shelf of American brews on the other side of the aisle. Seems to be lacking on the Belgians, but very strong with English and other European brews. Run by a really nice guy. Definitely recommended.“

“I first found this place from Troutbrooks website. Stripmall. Store itself is fine, Clean well organized. Had a nice sized selection. Good New England presence typical national crafts, with a few I hadn’t seen before.Sly Fox brewhouse for example. Always have had the Troutbrooks seasonals.Decent european too. Everyone should find something they like.Good store.“

“This place was somewhat of a pleasant surprise. They have a fair amount of good macros along with a surprisingly adequate amount of good belgians (st. bernadus, nostradomus, etc). They have an aisle of beer on shelves, plus a cooler full of beers as well. They dont mind if you break up 6 packs.“

“This place has a relatively small selection with a few jewels here and there. Micros like Victory, DFH, Unibroue are some of the main beers, but they also have some obscure european pilsners and meads. They have a very nice selection of Sakes. Prices are ok, but they aren’t big fans of mixing 6 packs...“

“Stumbled upon this bottle shop in a somewhat abandoned plaza. This place has a ton of New England regionals as well and many other breweries sprinkled here and there. They seem to have a large selection of eastern european beers as well. I found a Morimoto Imperial Pils here, as well as the Thomas Hooker stuff. I have not been able to find these anywheres!-----these guys have expanded big time since my first entry. The ownership is really cool and they are always telling me what is new is coming. They have one of the best selections in the state (maybe after the place in Naugautuck).“
