60 /100 Taps Mooloolaba (Bar) CNR THE ESPLANADE & BRISBANE ROAD This bar, located just off the main dining precinct in Mooloolaba, is adorned with beer memorabilia. There were 10 taps pouring craft beers, some of which were locally brewed. Non-beer was cocktails and spirits. Prices were craft beer scene standard while service was basic. |
62 /100 The Savvy Squire (Restaurant) 123 PARKYN PARADE The Savvy Squire is a large corporate venue in The Wharf Mooloolaba precinct. After entering through the Beer Garden where there are a few trestle tables, you move into The Plaza where seating is at long bench tables. In The Plaza are the two main bars, all with the stock-standard range of James Squire beers. Around the back of one bar is a sports bar area with pool tables and wall-mounted TVs. There is also a Dining Hall that is separated from the other areas and a Deck that overlooks the river. There is usually a vibrant atmosphere as the place is frequently busy. Drinks and meals are self-service (the Dining Hall is sit down table service) and the bar staff are friendly and have good product knowledge. The beer range is ‘main stream’ and consists of their full core products as well as a couple of specials (currently “The Wreck” is on tap). Beer tasting paddles are available (4 for $18). Food is pub-style based on local produce. |
50 /100 Taps Mooloolaba (Bar) CNR THE ESPLANADE & BRISBANE ROAD Have been here a few years ago and had a great experience, however was disappointed with the limited selection this time. Only 4 beers which were Modus mid IPA, Stone and Wood ale, Burleigh Hassle Hop and Holgate Hop Tart. Had live music on a Sunday afternoon and food was ok. New card technology replaces previous pin on a lanyard technology. Great concept just limited range. Seems to have changed in last few years. Hope for better beers next time with such a huge selection of local ales to showcase this is an opportunity missed. |
68 /100 Taps Mooloolaba (Bar) CNR THE ESPLANADE & BRISBANE ROAD We are starved for good beers up here so we really liked Taps. Great food, missus has allergies, staff were very understanding and patient. Barstaff knew the beers well. Would love to see some dark beers there. |
66 /100 Taps Mooloolaba (Bar) CNR THE ESPLANADE & BRISBANE ROAD Not a huge range of beers but they did have a few locally brewed craft beers. Didn’t eat there so I can’t say about the food. It’s an ok bar. |
