62 /100 Kelterei Steden (Internet-based) WIEDERHOLTSTRAßE 7 Alt Orschel is the name of their "Ausschank" in the center of Oberursel. It is in the backyard. Lovely atmosphere in between old buildings. Bar area, small shop. Cozy. |
46 /100 Zum Schwanen (Bar) HOLLERBERG 7 I get why BeardedAvenger added the place, but for me as a local this is not really worth a visit because the beer selection is just boring. |
68 /100 ACKERGASSE 13 In the center of Oberursel. Easy bike or public transport ride from Frankfurt. About 20min. Nice setting in a courtyard. Different rooms, big beergarde. 4 beers on tap. Will be back |
74 /100 ACKERGASSE 13 Very good place to eat and drink. Traditional German food, very good, accompanied by their own very decent brews, which change with the season so you get to try a few over time. Their Christmas feast is sublime. |
60 /100 ACKERGASSE 13 Ate outside in the very nice Biergarten on a warm late summer day. Nice selection of tasty traditional German food at reasonable prices. The beer selection at the time of our visit was limited to a pilsener and a dark lager, neither of which was particularly exceptional. Okay, but better for dining than drinking. |
68 /100 Zum Schwanen (Bar) HOLLERBERG 7 Following a discussion on the Forums about when to add a place, I am working on the basis that (a) this place is pretty awesome and (b) if you’re in the area it will give you the chance to tick of Licher beers. This has the ’usual’ drawback of German pubs - the lack of selection. You get 2 beers on tap (Licher Pils and Benediktiner Hell) and also, I seem to remember, an applewine. There are then a couple of Licher bottles, 4 different Franziskaner weissbiers and some applewines/ciders. However I am happy to stick with some bottled weissbeir because what makes this place is the setting and general ambiance. Set in the cobbled and walled old town, there’s been a pub here since 1705. So makes a slightly different place to watch Eintracht Frankfurt on the TV (a friend in a member of the local supporters club which used Zum Schwanen as its clubhouse so he knows everyone here when we’ve been in on a matchday). It’s not a trendy bar, just a real mixture of friendly locals, including the bruisers ("You are English? I am a hooligan, nice to meet you!" *vigorous handshaking*). It also has that service style that is completely different to what a British customer is used to - beer being brought to you when you wave at the barman and a tally mark just being added to your beermat, hot fresh cheese pretzels being brought around, add another tally mark, just go to the bar when you leave and they count the tallies. Really assists the drinking experience. Have not eaten in the restaurant, but the bar food was good and homecooked in style. The one time we went out back to the garden it was pleasant and popular. |
68 /100 ACKERGASSE 13 I really like this place although it’s more about food despite it’s a name. The brunch is amazing - have never seen so much food. Beer is decent enough - I suppose it’s a German thing to not have much choice. Have eaten in the garden, in the cellar and in function rooms - all have a nice atmosphere. Enjoyed the smoked beer despite my German friends warning me off it. |
70 /100 ACKERGASSE 13 Nice place with great service. A traditional “Brauhaus“ with tasty food. Two beers on tap and one season. |
58 /100 ACKERGASSE 13 Good traditional brewpub with 2 + 1 (seasonal) taps. Total number of seasonals is 16! |
42 /100 ACKERGASSE 13 Cool place. When I was there, there was only one waitress for about thirty customers, so the service wasn’t good. I was disappointed that they only had two beers on tap: one pilsner and one weizen. The quality of the beer (I tried both) was excellent. The food was okay. |
72 /100 ACKERGASSE 13 Very friendly staf ,good beer and food,
Very " gemütlich" , i like this place |
70 /100 ACKERGASSE 13 Visitet this place in november 2011. This is what I will call a real “Brauhaus“ with very traditional german food and beer styles.
Old style brauhaus with waitress and serve dressed in old fassion close. Two beers on tap one season beers in good condition. Food it as normal in germany big portions of well made brauhaus food. Very buissy at lunch time. Friendly staf. |
84 /100 ACKERGASSE 13 Set in the old city of Oberursel. A very large place inside seats 700 with all of the rooms used. Also a very large walled beergarden. This is a very old place like I like them, well over 200 years. The serve old fashion German fare. Service was also good. Watch out for the Brew Master’s Daughter. |
