“I travel along Route 8 about once a month on business trips to Albany, NY. I’ve been stopping at this place for years and just realized its listed here on ratebeer. Cute place. They used to carry Moxie soda, but I don’t see it any more. The space is long and narrow and very much has a country feel to it. As jjpm74 said, they have a nice wine selection and also carry the main brands of hard liquor. The beer is in the back of the store, and all of it is under refrigeration. I picked up 5 Berkshire Ales I haven’t tried yet. Otherwise, a few other micros like Magic Hat and Long Trail, and a host of macros. I rated them a "10" for food because their chicken pot pies are absolutely amazing. My kids still go nuts for them. I bring a cooler with me when I travel and buy three or four each time I visit and bring them home. They also have a bathroom which makes them a valuable stop when travelling from Bridgeport, CT to Albany, NY.“

“Otis Poultry Farm is in the middle of nowhere along Route 8 in the Berkshires. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is that it is long and narrow with lots of nice country nic nacs and local dairy products. They also have a pretty decent selection of wine with the beer located in the back. Why mention them at all? These guys stock all of the 22oz Berkshire Ales making them the only place in the area with anything worth a damn. They also had several local ciders. Otherwise, their selection is typical macro and regional offerings. Not worth going out of your way for, but if on the way to the Berkshires and looking to grab a few bombers, worth a stop.

Update 9/3/07: I stopped by this place a few days ago and noticed that they stock every cider in production in Massachusetts. That makes this place an easy choice stop for me when passing through along route 8. I was surprised to see as many as I did.“
